I bought a single six from another THR member this morning and took it out to "the range". Swung by Walmart and picked up 1100 rounds (for $26, God, I love .22 :))
Anyway, the little six gun was much more accurate than I had expected, and a total blast to shoot. SAO guns are piles of fun.

If you have never tried one of these out, or even a SAO gun, I highly recommend it!

A Single Six is one of those guns everyone should own. Versatile, reliable and will last for several generations.

I shoot mostly .22 Mags in mine, as I have other .22LR revolvers with greater capacity and accuracy. And IMHO the SS really shines with that round.

But it is nice to have that ability to use the much cheaper .22LR ammo.

I had a single six I didn't have any major complaints with it. I ended up selling it and buying a smith 22 revolver.

I also recently bought a single six. I love the versatility of the magnum cylinder, and both it and 22lr are very inexpensive compared to everything else. I shoot it quite often. congratulations on your purchase. It's always a good feeling to buy something you truly enjoy.

Agree, a Single Six is a lot of fun on the cheap. I sold my stainless 6-1/2" model and have been eyeing a blue one lately. Will buy another one day for sure! :)

Isn't it good to discover just how much fun an SA .22 can be? At the price of price of magnum rounds, mine sees mostly .22 lr.

I have decided tonight that I "need" to buy that Single Six I have been thinking about. It will save me money on ammo and will outlast me. What an investment. My Security Six needs a buddy.

The Single-Six is waaaaaaaayyy up on the "Fun Gun" list.

When I want to {slowly} punch a lot of holes in paper, and do that on the cheap, the Single-Six makes the trip to the range.

I have the 50th Year Single-Six, blue, with the 4-5/8" (or so) barrel. Sometimes, though the MKII auto-loader somehow shoves the Single-Six out of the range bag and sneaks its way into the trip. ? ? ? how does it do that???

Of all the guns that I have traded off, my stainless 6 1/2" single six is the only one I miss.
Thinking about it. I really "need" another one of those.

I picked up a 9" single six convertible .22LR/.22WMR a few years back. Loads of fun and cheap to shoot. The 9" barrel provides very good accuracy for a .22 at longer ranges.

Just wanted to say that I got the Single Six :). I can't wait to go out plinking and save some money by keeping the big guns at home. (I know that buying a gun is not saving money but I feel it is within my rights to delude myself about this) I did buy some .22mag just to try it out but I am amazed at how expensive it is. Not much lead, powder, or brass for the price. Now I need a holster. . .

the single six is great. I highly recommend finding a good single action pistol tuner and have the springs replaced and the pistol tuned - it will be a rewarding experience. Ruger did a good job on the pistol, but the stock trigger pull sucks. A tuner will make it into a new gun - a real joy to handle. in DFW tx I recommend ray Pearce.

Don't care how badly I may need a few extra dollars---my single six will never be sold.
