this is too easy, best all time trigger for a 22; anything Anschutz.
best all time factory trigger for centerfire= remmy 788, nothing else comes close to the no creep at all, plus a locktime as fast as you can blink an eye.

Ummmm, "rifles", said me. :p :)

November 9, 2008, 10:08 PM
Best: 5.6m HRA Garand, factory. Butter smooth and utterly consistent.

Worst: My '43 Izzy 91/30. Horrible feel, sudden break, terrible pull. You all know the old cliche about how the actual shot should almost come as a surprise? This one literally does.

November 9, 2008, 10:12 PM

USGI and Chinese M14 trigger groups with the M14/M21A5 C-IED 4.5 lb MAX-PAK Trigger Upgrade from Smith Enterprise, Inc.

The original trigger on my pre-ban Norinco T56SHTF AKM

Any factory AR trigger

November 9, 2008, 10:25 PM
Best - Weatherby Vanguard .25-06

Worst - Browning A-bolt II .270

Decent but not great - Marlin 336 .30-.30, Marlin Model 60 .22

November 9, 2008, 10:39 PM
also surprised good was an NEF 12 ga.

Worst: SKS.

November 9, 2008, 10:47 PM
Best - JP aftermarket trigger on my AR
Worst - factory trigger on an 1880's Martini Henry Rook rifle with about a 15 pound pull.

November 9, 2008, 10:48 PM
Best is my HRA M1.
Worst Russian SKS but it has smoothen in time after shooting almost two thousand rounds.

November 9, 2008, 11:49 PM
Best: Remington PSS

Worst: My Browning Acera (And no it can't be fixed. I've tried!! Three good gunsmiths tell me that it is like their shotgun triggers and can not be smoothed out.)

November 9, 2008, 11:56 PM
BEST factory trigger: Tikka T3.

Worst: Ruger 10/22

November 9, 2008, 11:58 PM
Worst: Rock River Arsenal M1 Carbine (sold the rifle because of the trigger)

Best (after market): KID trigger kit on my 10/22
Best (stock): Ruger 77/22

November 10, 2008, 01:40 AM
Best: Airarms S410E. Adjusted right down to a matter of ounces and very clean and smooth.

Worst: Indian Brown Bess replica. Over 30 lbs. out of the box. It was so heavy it felt like I was bending parts inside the lock when I pulled it.
Worst 2nd place: AMT .380 Backup. About a 20 lb. pull. Not such a big deal with this one though since it's a single action pocket pistol. If I'm going to carry something like that cocked, locked and concealed I don't want any hair triggers.

November 10, 2008, 02:22 AM
+1 on stock Ruger 10/22

also, the GSG-5 has wayyyyy too much creep. but not a fair offering since it isnt a common enough firearm for most people to test. one day....

November 10, 2008, 02:30 AM
I love CZ triggers, both centerfire and rimfire. My 336 has one of the crispest triggers I have ever felt. It isn't benchrest light but it certainly is as crisp as it gets. Really fun.

November 10, 2008, 09:17 AM
Best - Jewell trigger on my 40X

Word is probably my TC flinter. Can't abide bad triggers.

November 10, 2008, 10:37 AM
Best - Remington 700 VLS

Tied for a close 2nd-Best - four different Ruger #1 rifles

Ties for 3rd place - several Rem. 700s and my new Model Seven

Pretty decent - Ruger 77s, Win. 94, Ithaca LSA-55

Okay - Marlin 336s and 1894s, Ithaca 72, Mossberg 100, Mossberg 640K, Mossberg 346BK

GawdAwful - Ruger 10/22s

All have been factory triggers

November 10, 2008, 10:40 AM
Worst: the DSA fire control group on my FAL. Heavy, gritty pull. They say a trigger should break like glass but this one pulls like broken glass instead.

November 10, 2008, 10:49 AM

1916 oberendorf mauser. set trigger, no take up, no creep, 10oz pull (I'm probably a little too proud of the work I did on this trigger...and the whole gun itself, but if you hold it in your hand and shoot it once, you'll understand my enthusiasm for this gun)
howa 1500. single stage, 3.5lb, no take up, very crisp
puma92. single stage, 7lb, very crisp and clean pull.

springfield 84c. there are no words in elvish, entish, or the tounges of men to accurately describe the god awfulness of this trigger.

November 10, 2008, 11:23 AM
I've been through about 80 guns since I started buying, but lots of these I don't have anymore. I remember the peaches and the stinkers, though.

Swiss K31, actually the second one (I've had two).
CZ 527's set trigger was nice.

Probably one of the several Mosin Nagants I had.

Deer Hunter
November 10, 2008, 12:04 PM
Worst: STG58 FAL.

Best: Saiga with G2

November 10, 2008, 12:15 PM
Best - Savage Model 12 FV AccuTrigger

Worst - Mossberg 640 KD Chuckster. Trigger pull is about 8 lbs. I've had it to one gunsmith so far who could not lighten it up any.

Shawnee - has yours had any work done to it? Do you know how old your rifle is? Mine is from the early 80's, I think.

November 10, 2008, 12:37 PM
Hmmm. Triggers. Here goes...

Best: NOT! NADA! NONE! Until I worked on them...;)

Worst: Ruger Mini-14 Ranch rifle - sold it. Ewww.

Marlin 39a .22 lever rifle, gift from my father-in-law (he's awesome!)
THIS gun is worth whatever it takes to get a good trigger.:)

Chinese SKS, OLD Norinco one. After some work, will shoot great 100 yard groups. Seriously. Sold it only because I was young and foolish!

Old school Savage varmint gun bull-bbl .223, non-adjustable type
-had to spend mega amount of time to get it to just 3 lbs. WORTH IT!
Shoots GREAT now. Belongs to an archery guy across the country.

Ruger 10/22 carbine, new production. Simply terrible.:barf:
Ruger needs to quit it and get back to old school ways.
Same goes for the little 22/45 pistol trigger too. Yuck!
Volquartsen or Power Custom parts are a comin' ;)

November 10, 2008, 01:33 PM
These are the triggers I have ranked from best to worst IMO.

Rem 700 with Jewell
Rem 700 with Timney
Kimber 8400
Sako 85
Tikka T3
Cooper M22
Pre-64 M70 Supergrade
Rem 700 X Mark Pro
Rem 700 old style trigger
Weatherby Mk V
Pre-64 M94
Browning BAR MK II
Ruger 77 adjusted by smith
Browning A-Bolt
Mossberg 46B
24/47 Mauser
Enfield No 4 Mk 1

Some may be surprised but I prefer the new X Mark Pro trigger to the older style. The Kimber has the best factory trigger I've ever felt.

November 10, 2008, 03:49 PM
Worst: By a mile it is the bullpups, PS90 and Micro tech STG 556.

Best? Probably one of the Rem 700 or pre 64 winchesters.

November 10, 2008, 04:35 PM
In factory form

Best: Savage MKII W/Accutrigger
Worst: Ruger 10/22

After a little work

Best: Bill Springfield reworked AR15. Best 4#, with no creep trigger, I have felt;) Better than my RRA 2 stage
Worst: Ruger 10/22, but at least its shootable now, and at 2.5#:)

November 10, 2008, 05:19 PM
Best- all my Swiss rifles.
2nd -Swede m96, m94., Polish 22 trainer.
3rd -Fin M39, French Mas36.
4th -Vz24, K98( these are a VERY close 3rd).
5th -Abolute dead last...the mosins.

November 10, 2008, 05:50 PM

Rem 700 SPS w/ X Mark pro. Reduced weight to sub 2 lb. No creep at all.
Savage MkII Accutrigger. After cutting the spring, it's very nice.
Model 70 XTR. Nice trigger to work on

Every 10/22 I've shot.

November 10, 2008, 05:53 PM
Heh, you put a Mosin in 3rd place...

I'll compare an M28/30 trigger to any other military trigger ever made. They are wonderful.

My best commercial trigger is a Mossberg 810.
My worst commercial is a Mossberg 353.

My best military is my HRA Garand
Second best is my 28/30 (though I have a 28/76 that will likely beat it).
My third best is my Imbel FAL (how anyone could compare a G2 trigger, and I have several, more favorably than any FAL is beyond me).

My worst military is a 1943 Izhevsk.

November 10, 2008, 06:16 PM
best...... timney trigger in my ruger m77 mk2 in .243
best factory .....1997 remmy model 7 in 7mm08

worst trigger i have ever ever ever come accross... parker hale 1200 (santa barbara mauser action) it is purely dreadful. loads of unpredictable creep. yuk

November 10, 2008, 06:32 PM
best all time factory trigger for centerfire= remmy 788, nothing else comes close to the no creep at all, plus a locktime as fast as you can blink an eye.

el wrongo, :) the rem700 etronix, with its electric trigger doesn't even have the concept of creep as known in mechanical triggers and the locktime is several orders of magnitude faster than any mechanical trigger

Worst: By a mile it is the bullpups, PS90 and Micro tech STG 556.

yeah, seriously. anybody who thinks a factory AR or AK trigger is bad has never shot a bullpup

Crazy Fingers
November 10, 2008, 10:42 PM
Shotguns don't count because you're supposed to pull them rather than squeeze.

For me the worst is probably my stock AR trigger, followed by the 10/22. The AR has about 3 distinct stages of creep before it lets go. When it finally does, it doesn't break cleanly either. It feels a bit like metal getting galled up. Nasty.

The best is probably my Howa 1500. I don't know if it has a trigger job on it or not because I bought it used. About 1/32" of travel and then a perfectly clean break at maybe a pound.

November 10, 2008, 10:52 PM
best: geisselle SSA (AR-15)
enfield no. 4 mk. 1
german kar98

MOSIN NAGANT model 1891 by FAR!!! it has to be AT LEAST a 15+ pound trigger pull. it is absolutely absurd how bad it is.
stock ar-15 trigger(too heavy, around 7 lbs)

Savage Shooter
November 10, 2008, 11:09 PM
Best 1 t/c contender .223 factory 1lb or less
2 savage 12fv .223 factory 1.5 pounds
worst1 probably my mossberg 500 or my ruger bearcat

November 10, 2008, 11:58 PM
only rifle I have that qualifies is the Tapco trigger on my Saiga AK. The trigger on my AR is...bleh. I don't mind it, but...

November 28, 2008, 01:39 PM
Best: Swiss k31
Worst: Mosin Nagant 91-30

November 28, 2008, 01:55 PM
Factory best: set trigger on CZ 527
" worst: 10/22

November 28, 2008, 02:32 PM
best on my rifles: Timney AR trigger
Worst of all time: base 10/22

November 28, 2008, 02:56 PM
Because my preference lies with military type rifles, none of the triggers on my rifles are particularly good, unless you count my NM tuned M14.

The worst by far is my PTR 91. Absolutely the worst trigger I've encountered on any rifle, even worse than my AKs.

November 28, 2008, 03:58 PM
Savage MKII accutriger is the best, followed very closely by the CZ 527 set trigger.

Worst ever, was a Chinese SKS.

November 28, 2008, 04:08 PM
Best: Browning buckmark..I barely have to think about it, and it fires.
Worst: IMI Uzi Model A ....Stiff, lots of overtravel, *HEAVY* pull, and the fit of the grip doesn't make things easier.

Ky Larry
November 28, 2008, 04:43 PM
Worst: AK-47, Rem 700 in any caliber, Ruger M-77 Mk2 in any caliber, Rem 514, anything from Browning

Best Factory triggers are CZ single set, Anything with Timney or Jewel after market ,
