Which Bushmaster rifles are able to shoot steel cased ammo relaibly?

I'm not sure which model to look for.

I'm thinking since I'm in ny I need to get the "post ban" model

Answers you get on this will range from "steel cased?! NEVAR!!!" to "my Bushy eats cheap lacquered Wolf all day long!"

In other words, you rolls the dice and takes your chance... Some have had bad experiences, others have not, and this topic gets the AR faithful in a tizzy.

I never used it in my Bushmaster (XM15ES 16" CAR Heavy Bbl) but I would have eventually tried it out.

I have fired thousands of rounds of Silver Bear ammunition through several rifles with Bushmaster chrome lined barrels with no ill effects.
I do not use Wolf ammunition.

Most AR-15s will eat steel case ammo as long as you keep the bolt literally wet with lube. Wolf and most of the other Russian import steel case ammo uses cheaper powder that doesn't burn very clean, so you will have to clean the gun a little more often.

The chrome-lined chambers and barrels will handle any type of steel cased ammo. The SS Match chambers(DCMs etc.) seem tighter and tend to have problems with it no matter how clean you keep them.

I've used Wolf with no issues at all. Just make sure to clean the chamber thoroughly when finished.

Condolenses on being in NY. I also live in the socialist paradise and have two bushys. First is a 20" HBAR. Great with a tripod off the bench, but heavy to carry. The secoond is a 16" ultralight with an Eotech 552 on midwest carbine forearm with a forward handgrip. Some don't like the lite barrel, but it works for me and is simliar to an M4. If I need to carry something all day, this would be the one. If you ever escape NY, go for a Colt 6920.

Lots of steel cased through one of mine as well,ZERO problems.Just make SURE you heed Slvr Surfr's advice!
Esp if you're going from steel to brass...(asking for problems if you don't clean chamber after steel.)

This paragraph made me want to ask the question to people that actually own the rifle.
http://www.thegunsource.com/category/266-Bushmaster_Rifles.aspx

"We are proud to offer Bushmaster Arms AR-15 rifles ideal for plinking, hunting, or competition. The Bushmaster AR15 rifle is one of the most popular AR-15 rifles on the market, with a large share of the overall market, it's no wonder. Bushmaster AR-15 rifles are said by "Bushmaster Inc" to be the only AR-15 rifle that will take steel cased ammunition with out jam or feed problem. So when it comes to Bushmaster AR-15 rifles, look no further."

Thanks for the advice guys.
