Does anyone have any experience with the military surplus M1A/M14 magazines offered by Widener's? Are these US surplus, Taiwanese, other?

I'm a bit tight for money, and I'd like to pick up these $15 mags-but only if they are of decent quality. If they're crap, I'll spend 2x as much for the Springfields, or find some newer CMI mags (the present military contractor), or some T57 Taiwanese mags.

I suggest that you go to 44mag.com.

44mag.com sells mags made by Checkmate Industries (CMI) the current manufacturer for USGI contracts, as you said above. These are first rate mags. I believe the cost is $22.50 each. CMI makes a variety of very high quality mags for Colt and others as well. It is a good outfit.

You are better off spending a very few dollars more and getting the best, rather than getting marginal or junk mags.
