Where I can find a pic/scheme of an M16-A2 trigger group/disconnector (one with a three-round burst setting), preferably with an explanation of how it works?

Try www.bushmaster.com
I saw a breakdown in their online catalog IIRC.

Micro, many will skirt the issue here because it could become an illegal conversation very quickly. Be careful.

Biff - I am correct when I say that this strange wheel with notches on it is absent on a full-auto (say, A1) rifle?
(sorry, I'm not a real armourer... yet.:neener: )

Yes. The cam limits the full-auto cycle to 3 rounds and then allows the disconnecter to engage. On the M16A1 the select fire switch disables the disconnecter in auto mode until the trigger is released. You aren't trying to do any home gunsmithing on IDF property, are you?
I personally never liked the 3 round burst concept. In my opinion, if you miss with the first round, the other two will probably not help. If you hit with the first round, the other two are probably unnecessary.
That said, all my M16 experience was in a training environment. You are in a country that is constantly under hostile threat and are free to develop your own opinions. I'm sure your NCO's and officers can provide input from their own experiences.

Biff - No, I am not doing any home gunsmithing, for I currently carry no rifle.
The request was purely academic in nature. Due to my training and future deployment, I'm unlikely to ever encounter any threat bigger than the one encountered by the average citizen (and am only slightly better trained).]
My NCO's/Officers are qualified to teach armourer courses, and that's what they do all their service. Neither of us (hopefully) will ever need to test the quality of our work in the field. We are, as I put it, MERF and proud.
