I've shot only one over-the-course HP match in the last 10 years (almost 2 years ago) and don't know who has the latest best deals for replacement match barrels.

I prefer medium-heavy weight, to match my real USGI stock (don't believe in the fat ones), but *would* consider standard-profile if the maker's products are proven 1 MOA performers.

Gotta factor in installation and matching to my bolt, too, so I'm interested in the total cost.

Some of the "names" appear to be doing only AR15 tubes...

Any recommendations?

I've had great results with Kreiger and Douglas barrels. Not sure what the best place to get them from would be.

Champion's Choice has what looks like a screaming deal on a Douglas, installed and chambered to your bolt. At $330, I'm wondering if it's too good to be true, like the barrels they're getting are marginal or something.

If Homer is still using Gene Barnett for his M1 barrels you will be OK. Gene buys and finishes a tremondous amount of Douglas barrels.

I checked out Barnett Barrels and it looks like they only do Garands, not M14-types. Am I wrong on this?

I don't think Barnett has a web site. He buys Douglas barrels and supplies them turned and unturned to various customers.

The way I know about him is that Glen Nelson's shop in Columbus Ga. built every match grade M1A that Springfield sold for 20 years. All his Douglas barrels came from Gene. I could order Douglas barrels, blanks or turned to play with at cost. The most I ever paid was about $90. Glen closed his shop and has since died. Springfield builds their own M1's now. And that's the rest of the story. Oh yeah, the stocks came from Fagen. Now, that's the rest of the story.

Champions Choice has been selling the Douglas barrels for both M1 and M14 for many years. Lots of happy Highpower shooters have used this service.

Ronny Morris of Match Service Works is very nearby to Champions Choice and does the actual gunsmithing for CC. Ronnie does good work. He built my first Match Grade M1 for me some years back... using a Douglas tube from CC.

Best to all,
