Hi everyone...I will pick up my third Sig the day after tomorrow - a P239 .40 cal (the other two are SP2022 and P220ST). Since it is my first compact, and with a 3.6" barrel, can anyone recommend the best SD ammo for this gun? Also, I've read a little about the Speer GD Short Barrel Ammo...anyone use this in a P239 and do you all recommend it for this gun? Any info is appreciated and thanks.

speer GD's or the Rem 180 JHP which cal police used years ago. 180 on paper has the same power as a 180 gr 45acp. they do expand. FWIW

I've tested issued 180g gold dot bullets on two mule deer does I had to put down. Both were shot with a glock 27 (short barrel) and preformed very well with good expansion.

Anyone try the short barrel gold dots?

Yep, used them in my Taurus 24/7 Compact. Expand well and are pretty accurate.
