im getting the equipment needed for hunting some coyotes... i have a .223 and a scope. the questions is... what sort of calls should i use for the midwest? any other tips?

Closed reed cotton tail and jack rabbit calls are a good place to start.
Camo up the best you can to match your surroundings. Sit in the shade if you can. Minimize movements. If one is coming in hold off calling until he hangs up.

Open reed calls give you more versatility. Smart yotes wise-up to dying rabitt calls pretty quickly. Do a search . . . there are some very detailed posts on coyote hunting.
