Is there any mfgr that markets a handy size, 12 ga non- bolt action repeater, that can reasonably be expected, with decent 0/000 B factory ammunition, to print dinner plate patterns @ 25 yds.?
Barrels are kinda skinny and thin for choke tubes at 20" or so...I do not know about internal chokes.
JC Higgins and Marlin bolt guns have not worked out too well but that was a decade or three ago.
Thanks,
salty

Proper ammunition selection is probably the key, as a cylinder barrel is pretty much a cylinder barrel no matter who manufactures it.
I've found 6-8 inch patterns at 25 yards from Federal LE132-00 Reduced Recoil Buck to be the norm.

The most used 870 here will deliver 4" patterns at 25 yards with Federal LE127-00 9-pellet full velocity loads out of an 18" factory CYL bore barrel ( http://le.atk.com/general/federalproducts/shotshell/tacticalbuckshot.aspx ) These days it's as much an issue of ammunition choice to get the patterns you want, more so than chokes.

I have an old 311 Savage/Stevens 16 ga that'll print a big pair of ''binoculars'' at 25 yards.
