I just purchased a ruger kp90th(but can't pick it up for 10 days, thanks **********) and since it only comes with one magazine, I am looking to purchase a couple extras. The factory magazines are quite expensive, but promag sells an 8 and 10 round mag that I am interested in. Does anyone use these mags, if so how do they function. I will also be looking for a holster and recommendations would be appreciated in that department also.

I really would advise RUGER magazines - do not cripple an otherwise great pistol

I recently picked up a new P90 myself. Fortunately, I had a couple of extra mags from my P97, which are the same as the P90. You're right, there aren't many options for after market magazines, for Ruger .45s. I've never tried Pro mag, but I have read many negative comments about their product on various gun boards.

I'm curious, did you buy your gun used? why does it only have one magazine? All of my new Ruger's came with two mags.

btw, congratulations on buying a great gun.

I agree. There are only two reasons in my book to get aftermarket magazines:

1. there are no factory mags available (try to find one for a S&W M61).

2. the aftermarkets have been tried and tested (I have some excellent 10 rd mags for my Mini 14)

Bud's has factory magazines for $26. Though, I don't know how much the shipping will be.

Reading through others' recommendations, I purchased a second factory mag for my P90 (also a TH). I'd rather not risk the unreliability associated with a mag from another vendor. Besides, I know I have a mag that will last a while, and if I do have a problem, I can call up Ruger who's known for good customer service.

As for a holster, it depends what you're looking for. I went through a couple cheap holsters, but was very unsatisfied. I bought a good quality belt and spent a decent amount (not too much) on a Bianchi holster. I think it was around $50-$60. Definitely worth it. Fits like a glove and really handles the weight of a P90 well. The only thing is that it can stick out a little if I'm not wearing a long enough shirt, but I really only carry when I'm hunting/hiking on private property, so it's not really an issue for me. It doesn't print at all though.

I think you'll love the P90. I've added a little stiffer recoil spring, but everything else has been top-notch.

I got lucky and bought 5 factory mags from a pawn shop for 10 bucks, but the truth is, the two mags I got with it when I bought it new in 1995 have performed exceptionally well in the many years I have owned the gun. My experience with Ruger has been that no one seems to be able to make an aftermarket mag for any of their guns, rifles and pistols alike, that work worth a darn over the long haul and so I just spend the extra money (or look for bargains) for factory mags. If your experience is like mine, you will save money in the long run anyway by not having to repeatedly buy cheap mags, y'know?
