Is there a cap that I can use if I wanted to remove the magaine extension from my 870Police or Wingmaster?

just get the factory magazine cap, you will also need a standard magazine spring.

Make sure you get the OLD STYLE magazine cap.
The Old Style caps were made to use with the detent system on the front of the barrel support ring.

The New Style caps only work with the Express plastic magazine retainer system.

You'll also need an Old Style magazine retainer. This is a split steel "spring-cup" that fits into the end of the magazine.

dfariswheel, can you identify the proper parts numbers for the cap and spring?

You can buy the parts from Brownell's:

http://www.brownells.com/aspx/ns/schematics/schemmfg.aspx?schemid=134&m=12&mn=Remington%c2%ae&model=870+Standard+Weight-+12%2c+16%2c+20+

Part Number 33. F25375 767-253-750 Magazine Cap $15.61

Part Number 38. F91657 767-916-570 Magazine Spring Retainer, Old Style$4.95

On the Remington site there are several caps that are made for special models, usually with special finishes.

The standard is:

25375 V-39 870 MAGAZINE CAP 12 & 16 GA BLUED $13.50

91657 V-45 870 MAGAZINE SPRING RETAINER 12 GA METAL $3.25

Note that the spring retainer goes into the magazine tube CUPPED END down.

See the owner's manual for instructions.
