Did Remington ever make plain/non-vent rib barrels for the 870 in any length other than 18.5"?

Yeah. I have a pair of Wingmasters from the early 70's. Both now wear vent ribbed choke tube barrels, but came with a plain 28" mod and full choke barrel.

Yep. Number Six, made in 1955, came here with a 30" Full choke ribless barrel.
Number One, made in 1950,was the same way. That barrel is now 18+" long and wears a front ramp and sight.
In fact, more barrels were plain in the early days than ribbed.

I have an old 1100 with a couple of plain barrels. AFAIK Remington made plain field barrels at least into the 1970s.

Dang - I can't find a single one to buy. Y'all must be hoarding them. :)

They used to be readily available on eBay, before eBay decided that spare shotgun barrels are bad.

rbernie....google up the Kittery trading post in Kittery Maine, get into their used gun section under barrels only and search. Been to the store once, cool place, have bought several barrels for the 870's and the 1100 off the web site, all in the $80 to $100 range. All came as advertised as far as stated condition......... Jack

http://www.e-gunparts.com has several to choose from..
One example:

They have pretty much every barrel the gun came equipped with, and a few that are aftermarket.
