Gun owners and "Mail Order Brides".

I never truly understood why American men travelled to the other side of the world to marry a stranger, until I went to the Philippines in 97 to see a friend. The women there were BEATIFUL in so many ways. The main reason being that many of them have the traditional values that we starve for here in the states. Family, God, transparency, loyalty and yes, the words that so many American women despise, "SUBMISSIVE QUALITIES".

What I noticed during my visit were the many men I spoke to from the states who were gun owners. All on their way to see some special lady. 8 of 10 at least.

What does this say about us? Are most men with guns drawn to the woman with traditional traits? Like our guns, do they serve a need or desire in us to be the best man we can be? Is it harder to be the best we can be without them?

OR was it that those Philipinas are just so damned cute? :D

While I see nothing overtly wrong in your post, I think you are over-generalizing just a bit. Certainly many America men, in particular GIs, have fallen for and married Philipino (sp?) women. But then, Americans have also married many British, German, and other women in countries where we have been stationed.

There may be a connection between gun ownership and traditional values. I think that I have seen the opposite in anti-gun people, that they despise traditional values and seem to embrace "newer" ideas. But that is only a casual observation on my part.

I cannot fathom why a secure and confident man would want "submissive qualities" in a wife.

It always struck me as garish and unprofessional seeing all those ads for "Russian brides" and "lonely Thai ladies" in the back of some gun rags, especially soldier of fortune (which despite its rather demonized reputation has some very good reporting from conflict areas). I don't know anyone who actually travelled around the world seeking foriegn brides but I know plenty of GI's who married women while overseas.

I fell for one myself... :neener: :D

Personally, I like traditional values like family and loyalty, however
submissiveness is not valuable at all.

The woman I married is independent and tough as nails.

I like that because it sucks to have to be in control of every situation.

She has saved my a$$ on various occasions and I hers.

Thats what marriage is all about.

There is nothing wrong with a mail order spouse as long as it is done for the right reasons.

I realize there are many screwed up American women as American men
vain, materialistic, shallow, still have umbiblical cord attached, emotionally
weak and unstable etc...

Why don't we hear of mail order husbands?

Marko, it's called control. Be it right or wrong, that's what it's about.

This hardly seems gun related.

If what you said is true, it doesn't speak well for gun owning men.

But I think you're wrong. I think most gun owning men would rather have a woman who is a full human being, capable and competent.

Why would you willingly marry a sheep? Why would you want sheep-genes passed to your children?

That it should still be necessary, at this late stage in the senility of the human race to argue that women have a fine and fluent intelligence is surely an eloquent proof of the defective observation, incurable prejudice, and general imbecility of their lords and masters. -- H.L. Mencken

Boy are you guys dreaming.

My girlfriend is from the Philippines. They may be submissive for the first week they're here, but after that, they're true Americans. Good luck suckers

"We need to redo the kitchen. With granite countertops..."
"The dog shed all over my outfit!"
"My mother is coming into town next weekend."
"You're watching the history channel again!?!"
"Why are you always so tired when you come home from work!?"
"I want <kid's name> to go away to school so she can have the 'college experience'".
"I started paying down my Visa bill but then... I don't know what happened!"
"Why do you save so much?! We NEED a new bathroom!"

Does SouthWest fly to Manilla?

It seems, that political correctness or no, a wife usually depends on a husband more than vice versa. So in any such case (it is not any marriage, granted) a bit of submissiveness on female part won't hurt. Does anybody really stand in need of assertive dependents? Besides, IMHO it is not absolutely necessary to be tough to become a full human being. Emily Dickinson, for instance.

Best regards, Alexey

PS Will somebody care to explain me what transparency is as a spiritual quality?
