I need a good source for gun stats and information, specifically one that has a credible source (i.e. the US Dept of Justice) for stats such as the number of defensive uses of guns, and dispelling the argument that a criminal will just take your gun away.

I had these in my bookmarks until my last crash. Now an editor is asking me to cite sources.

Try the bjs (bureau of justice statistics), the UN (there's some subgroup that deals with tracking crime statistics)... the FBI has some statistics, the BATFE has some statistics, UK's home office has some statistics...

maybe guncite/nraila/kaba/packing.org have some links to data sources.

Thanks. I found a link to a study sponsored by the US Department of Justice, done in 1994. The study estimates 1.5 million defensive gun uses annually.

I still can't remember where I'd found that 500,000 figure, or the source that dispels the claim that criminals will just take a victim's gun. :banghead:
