I've seen a lot in the press lately about the .17HMR, and in particular Ruger's new chambering of it in their famed Single Six. I've heard it shoots a lot flatter and packs a bigger punch (out of a rifle size barrel at least) than the highly praised .22WMR. Any thoughts out there on a .17HMR as a good "go to" hip piece for hiking and varmit control and, has anybody shot the Taurus or Ruger? In what barrel length? Thanks.
