Are any of you NUTS enuff to watch "Reno 911?"

September 18, 2003, 11:11 AM
On the Comedy Channel. A spoof on "Cops" that is so tongue-in-cheek that I am wondering if it was INTENDED to cast some light on the Thin Blue Line.

Last night's episode about the psychotic 15 yr veteran's "party" where they hung up a pinata and he failed to hit it even with the blindfold OFF with his Beretta (and then covered the diving spectators by turning around with the loaded gun) has to be a classic. Of course the cops were all out in the desert drinking beer at the time.

I wonder how long the police departments will allow this "more than a grain of truth" expose' of civil service to remain on the air.

I watch every one. It's hysterical. :)

"Are we going to catch every bad guy? No. Are going to catch half? Probably not. Are we going to catch any? I'm optimistic." LOL!

I'm waiting for "Law & Order: CA-DOJ Trigger Lock Enforcement Unit"

I only saw the trailer for that episode. The maroon had his foot on the pinata while he was shooting at it!:what: :banghead:

It's a comedy, a parody...he wasn't actually shooting at it with a real gun. The fact that he's a moron is part of what makes it funny...or at least I thought it was funny.

Is that where you call the cops and say "Oh, crap! I think I just saw Janet in my front yard!" ? :uhoh:

I love that show!
Officer Dangle is my favorite.

I liked it when one officer gets thrown thru a glass door but the camera crew didn't get it on tape. They said "Let 'em loose again; you know there gonna fight". So they do and they get it on tape.

Blowing up the old microwave with a tear gas grenade was pretty funny too.

I thought it was a hoot when the bike cop got his bike stolen.

Hee hee.

Reno 911 was hilarious the couple of times I saw it.

"Sir, that's for dead people, not living idiots."
"Some say shoot to kill, others say shoot to maim. I say empty the chamber and
let the Lord decide."

I think the most accurate part of last night's episode was right at the end.

"Are you OK to drive?"
*pause*"Yeah, I'm OK."
"How much have you had to drink?"
"Oh, about 11 beers and a couple of cosmopolitans."
everyone in the car: "Yeah, you're OK to drive."

Reno 911 is the funniest show on television right now.

And it's gun-related; anyone else see the "Teaching school children about guns" part? Damn, that was hilarious.

"just close your eyes..."

prostitute smashes a lamp over officers head and walks out.

Is that Reno as in Nevada, or Reno as in Janet?

I especially loved this part, when the deputies were finishing Garcia's 15 year anniversary party off at the strip joint....

Stripper: (overhearing the other officers) James Oswaldo Garcia?

Garcia: Yep, that's me.

Stripper: Daddy!

Due to my work schedule, I have only seen it once, but the commercials alone are enough to make me giggle.

I liked where the guy was talking about "Silence of the Lambs" and said "I thought about being an FBI agent once... for about 15 minutes. Of course, I was drunk at the time. I also thought about making a dress out of women for about 15 minutes."

I think it should win an emmy or two as the best comedy show on TV

I watch every episode and usually watch the repeats too.

The opening scenes from the dash cam are always great.

This show is very, very funny. The old lady thinks it's stupid, she just don't get it.

Go to the comedy central web site there is a reno 911 shooting gallery.

I think the show is great. I loved the one where the female officer was on suicide watch. When one of the other officers came to comfort her, she was dressed very sexy. The part where they did the spoons was hilarious. I don't think that officer felt very comfortable:)

Mrs. Toro

Psalm 78:24,25
And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them the corn of heaven. Man did eat angels' food: he sent them meat to the full.

I just remembered another funny one;) They had a female officer dress up like a young teen with pigtails etc. She was meeting a guy she met on the Internet. Everytime he said something, the officers would come out from behind the building to grab him. Then it would turn out to be an innocent statement. After a while they got him. It was too funny:)

Mrs. Toro

1 Chronicles 21:1
And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.

the repeats have about a minute of extra footage not shown in the original airing, during the credits.
Everyone okay!

or something like that...

September 18, 2003, 07:35 PM
Haha! That's a funny show. I know they disobey every gun safety rule there is, but hey, they're supposed to! It's a funny!

September 18, 2003, 07:54 PM
When I first saw the previews, I thought it was going to be the stupidest show ever. It turned out to be hilarious! Now I TiVo every episode! :D

Guns should be made from solid metals. Plastic is for Model Trains.

If guns were made of solid metal, where would you insert the cartridges?

As a cop, I find the show funny. Most of my entire department watches the show. Its usually a topic in our lineups. At the sametime, no officers I know of get offended by it or are taken aback by it.

The ones that find it funny aren't the ones that the show spoofs.

The first show i saw,the gun handeling flat freaked me out!I did manage to get it through my thick skull that it was just a comedy, and haven't missed a episode since.:D

Its the only show on tv I actually watch. I about fell out the chair last night when the 2 female officers went to arrest the old man and he sped out on a scooter :D .

This show is crazy funny!!!

When I first saw the previews for this show I thought it would be stupid but, jokingly I told my wife,"We gotta watch that." She just rolled her eyes. We had a negligent discharge with the remote that the cat was sitting on and up comes Reno 911. We haven't missed an episode since.
