I'm going to be going to New Mexico next month and just wondering about open carry laws and knife laws in the state. From looking around online im pretty sure that open carry is legal there which is good to know, but I couldn't really find much else on the matter or anything on their knife laws. Any help would be great. Thanks everyone!

The only difference in OC and CCW in NM is the "alcohol law" - CCW is legal in a place of alcohol package sales, not for on site consumption, while OC is illegal in both instances. No idea about knives. Check out www.handgunlaw. us and www.opencarry.org. Also, your car is the same as your home, no restrictions.

Don't ask online in a forum!

Ask the State of New Mexico Office of Atty. General. They should be listed online. Then you'll get a reliable and authoritative answer. They can probably send you a flyer with all the current laws specified and explained.

Online forums are a bad source of legal advice.
