Anyone know if the ATI SKS stock here (http://www.cabelas.com/link-12/product/0018850225767a.shtml) will fit a Chinese SKS (the type with removable mags)? Thanks!

The Tapco's might require a tad bit of trimming on the magwell but other detachables work just fine.

FWIW, I used to have an old SKS in the same stock and I never really warmed up to it. To me, the LOP was too long and the wobble in the folder would become annoying after a little while. I guess if it has to be compact then it works just fine...

Yeah, I've had experience with the side-folder and IMHO it's garbage. The best aftermarket stocks for the SKS are the Tapco T6 and the ATI Monte Carlo, depending on what application you have in mind.

Ignore the 'Ultralight' in the name - that folder is actually significantly heavier than the original wood stock. It was pretty slick in 1993 but there are much better choices for a replacement stock nowadays.

The Choate folder is nicer IMHO, more sturdy-feeling, and more aesthetically pleasing. Is also more expensive, to the tune of about $80 depending on where you find it.

the ultralight will fit, but its not light its heavier than the wooden stock, it does on the other hand have a crisp solid locking mechanism

the ultralight will fit Thanks, gunmaker, for finally answering the question I asked.

For the record, I already own the stock and love it. It's on my Yugo SKS, but I have a Chinese one on the way and want to know if it will fit so that I can order another one to put on when it gets here.

Not to sound ungrateful, but I don't understand why someone asks a question and gets everything under the sun except an answer to the question asked...

This place would be pretty boring if most of the threads here only had one follow-up with the only thing in it being 'Yes it will' or 'No it won't' (padded out enough so the forum software doesn't complain).

Yeah, they do fit (maybe I should have posted this pic in my last post):

That one's actually a Combat Exchange stock, before ATI bought the design. It was developed when the Chicoms were really the only game in town, so yeah, they should fit, being that the stock was pretty much patterned for them.

 Did you read my post, the first response?

I quote myself...

The Tapco's might require a tad bit of trimming on the magwell but other detachables work just fine.

Sorry if that is not clear enough for you but that is probably the reason why no one else felt the need to answer your question...

Perhaps I misread your post, I took that to mean that you were recommending a Tapco stock, but it may need trimming to fit the gun.
