I'm a hand gun kind of guy but my hands are very shaky, making me a bad shot. I'm thinking I'd like a .357 lever action rifle to help steady my shot...but I know almost nothing about them. Who makes them, and what kind of price range am I looking at?

Probably marlin rifles. http://www.marlinfirearms.com/Firearms/Cowboy/1894_45Colt.asp is the website but i'm not sure of the price. marlin is very well known for its quality and accuracy as well as affordability.

I found an UNFIRED Rossi 357 mag trapper style with a 16 inch barrel for $130 at a pawn shop two years ago. It can hit a 6 inch plate at 100 yards with the open sights. I think they go for around $300 to $350 in most places. Marlin used to make a 357 mag lever gun in their 1894 model. Plus there are some Italian clones of 73s and 92s out there. BTW the 357 really hauls out of longer barrels. I also have a 20 inch 357 mag Rossi and you can get a 125 grain bullet up to 2,350 fps.

Marlin, Winchester (formally), Rossi and Browning. The Rossi's can be bought from Navy Arms and Legacy Sports. I think EMF may sell them also.

Winchesters and Brownings can be found on the auction sites.

Marlins are in perpetual short supply. They are always in demand.

I have had the Rossi and still have the Marlin. I like the Marlin the best.

I have a Navy Arms and really like it. Very smooth action and a very nice trigger. I like it better than the Marlins.

Legacy Sports has the PUMA 92. I have one in .357mag and it's great.

My Marlin 1894c is .357 mag/.38 special, I paid about $375 2 years ago on Auction Arms. They can be hard to find. It's a great rifle, fairly light and handy. Cheap to shoot, especially if you reload. Capable of hunting deer especially with the powerful .357 loads from Buffalo Bore Ammo.
Tame enough to transition new shooter from .22's to center-fire. The design has been around for a long time, it's rugged and reliable.
