I bought some 60 grain Sierra Varmiter projectiles last time I was in town because they were on special and they told me they'd be just the thing for shooting wild dogs.

My previous load was 43.5GR of AR2209 under an 80gr speer SP hotcor with Federal 210 primers.

I still have some AR2209 left over but when I consulted my manuel it dosent list AR2209 as a powder for 60 grain bullets. It lists AR2209 for 55gr and 70gr Projectiles so why doesnt it list a load for 60gr?? Does anyone know why I shouldn't use AR2209 with 60 grainers?

ADI list max charges of AR2209 in 243win as;

50.0gr for 55gr bullets (compressed charge).

43.5gr for 70gr bullets.

44.5gr for 75gr bullets.(yes, one grain more than for 70gr bullets).

45.0gr for 80gr bullets.

It seems they have little data for AR2209 in 243win.

I can't see any great issue using the same charge as your 80gr bullets, and maybe working it up a little more.(since they list a 50.0gr charge for 55gr bullets)

I switched from AR2209 to AR2208 in my 243win and found it was very versatile with all bullets weights in that cal., as well as my .308win.

BTW, have you tried Taipan bullets at all?

I bought some 70gr HP for 243win and the quality of them supprised me, they are top quality bullets and found 'em to be super explosive on larger varmits. Just the shot for roos and dingoes.
But I think they would lack the penetration on larger game like pigs, deer and such.

Malcolm makes them with a pure soft lead core and anneals the copper jackets along the process. The result = a soft jacketed bullet.
