A friend of mine was given a Winchester 94 ser. number is in the 1,2xx,xxx range any idea on its DOB?

Did that, only came up with a range of 1943-1948.

Your 1,2xx,xxx number could date to either 1942 or 1943, depending on the rest of the serial number shown in x's.
1,191,307 was assigned at the end of 1941.
1,221,289 was assigned at the end of 1942.

According to my book, there are no records for the 1894 during 1943, 44, 45, 46, or 47.
(During WWII they were doing more important things)
