Which would you buy for a good 12 Guage semi-auto hunting shotgun? These are all around $400. The Stoeger 2000 is used. The Remington spr453 and Charles Daly are new.

with one caveat...why don't you look for a used remington 1100/1187? much better guns with much better service and parts base. i got my 1100 for 300.00 and its never hiccuped on me.

why remington 1100? I love my guns and would never sell one unless I did not trust it. Therefore I am leary about buying used guns of other people. Any idea what a new rem 1100 would cost me?

The 1100 has a proven track record. It's a Forever Gun, lasting longer than we do if certain parts like the O ring are replaced.

New ones are pricey, but there's plenty of used ones out there. Last one I saw was a 60s version, pretty wood, fixed Mod choke and a tag that said $300.

Used guns are like cars to people. Some wear them out. Some trade every year. Some trade just because they got tired of it. That's not to mention the people who moved to where they can no longer hunt or own firearms etc.

IF you are skittish about buying a used firearm, then go to a reputable gun shop when buying. If you find a shotgun you like from an individual, then go with him to a gunsmith to check it out before buying. Some of my guns were bought used, and some were new. Either way I performed a disassembly before I paid to see what I was getting. A GOOD gun store will even show you how to disassemble what you buy from them.

As usual, I agree with Dave.

I presently own 3 1100's and love them. Remington has made millions of them and there's a reason. Because of their popularity, good used ones are easy to find. I bought one a couple of weeks ago at a gun show for $400. It was a left hand version, came with a 26'' barrel with screw in chokes, and a 30" full choke barrel. The gun looks brand new.

When semi-autos were popular on the skeet fields, the 1100 was king. I saw these guns fire more rounds on a weekend than most shooters fire all year... soft shooting and very reliable.
