There was a HUGE and I do mean HUGE demand for all mags back in 1999.

I wish I stock piled mags back during 1997-98 when I was first getting into AR15s, the darned things skyrocketed here in California within the closing days of Nov./Dec. as the AW ban was set to go into effect on Jan 1st 2000.

New in wrapper GI spec mags were going for 40 dollars a piece and selling like hot cakes, the DPMS teflon finished 30 rounders were selling for upwards of 75 dollars new in the wrapper on ebay.

I had freaking 18 of those grey teflon Bushmasters and black DPMS mags, AND ONLY PAID 20-25 DOLLARS EACH FOR THEM! I could have nearly trippled my investment on the stupid things or atleast come out ahead after buying maybe 100 mags only to sell off 1/2 of them to get my money paid out returned by selling those 50 for double what I paid. If only I had been smart enough to see the writting on the wall.

For a good condition original 20rounder, I'd think that 60-75 bucks would be about fair for a rarer bird such as that. For one that was absolutely spotless and would be a wonderful addition for this rifle.... I'd say the 90-100 would be more appropriate,

This was the Ca. ban back in 1999, high cap mags were banned within the state of Ca. along with the rifles that accepted them. Fed 94 ban pretty much doesn't have effect in Ca. other than people with post94 rifles not being able to put evil features on their rifles. The rest of the country is still pretty much fine as they are only governed by the 94AW regs and still have access to all the grandfathered guns and magazines for transfer.

Sure, you might be able to get an M1A or Mini-14 in Ca. but you can't buy the high cap mags for those rifles. Back before 2000 as the laws regulations went into effect it was buy all that you can get your hands on.

Not to mention it was the whole preY2K garbage mixed in as well, was probably Ca. alone that was boosting the demand the most though.
