Took my brother-in-law shooting for his first time today...

He had a blast. He's significantly older than I am (12 years) and had never been handgun-shooting before. He started out on a rental SA XD9 and then outshot me on my own damn gun! (Beretta M9) He then tried out a S&W 642 (ferocious w/ standard pressure loads) and a 4-inch GP100 w/ .38 Specials. That Ruger is one SWEET revolver! I had never shot one before, but it was miles ahead of any of the K- or L-frames I've shot--smoothest DA trigger pull, great sights, and easy to shoot. We finished out the morning with an STI Spartan and box of .45 ACP--another amazing gun, especially for the price (I've decided what inexpensive 1911 I want!) The Spartan and the GP100 are both on my wish list.

When we were ringing out, I asked him if he had fun. "I'm worried I could spend all day here--I mean, really worried!" was his response.

Just thought I'd share today's great experience of introducing a non-shooter to shooting. Best!

I think you hooked one there.

Good work on bringing another person to our side. We need all the law abiding shooters we can get. Well done!!
