I have just ordered a Burris Fastfire for my XD. User's comments welcome...From reading other forums, it is necessary to visit a gunsmith in order to mount it.

Comments on effectiveness are welcome...

Thanks

What is a Burris Fastfire and what does it do?

A model of simplicity, don’t let the FastFire’s diminutive size and operational ease fool you. Leading-edge technology makes it an efficient, effective sight for rapid target acquisition in close quarters. The 2 oz. FastFire takes care of business on turkey shotguns, slug guns, semi-automatic handguns, muzzleloaders, brush rifles, and tactical weapons.

The non-magnifying reflex-type sight affords virtually unlimited eye relief and is parallax-free at 50 yards. A near-panoramic field-of-view simplifies shooting with both eyes open. The FastFire’s all-metal housing and electronic circuitry are built to withstand the stresses of magnum recoil. Two high- quality, multi-coated glass lenses insure a crystal clear sight picture. The sight’s Battery Saver mode can extend the life of the lithium CR2032 battery to five years. The mount included with the FastFire fits Weaver-style and Picatinny-style bases. Other mounts are available. The FastFire is covered by a limited one-year warranty.
