Getting My First Revolver!

I just ordered a new Smith M325 Night Guard revolver in .45 ACP. I have never owned a double action revolver (I had a Ruger Super Single Six way back - the one gun I let get away!). I have heard of people improving the action on this type of gun. What can I expect from the factory? Can the action be improved? How is it done?
