Bought a used Sig 220 in .45 off Gunbroker last week and got a chance to shoot it today for the first time. I was not prepared for how easy it is to shoot this Sig well. The first 3 shots (bottom left) went in the same hole. I thought I had 2 wild flyers at first.

I like this thing, shoots as accurately as my CZ-97B. As good as it shoots, the trigger is creepy and heavy. Something I need to try to improve on. I wish it had a manual safety, but that's the way it goes.

Overall, I'm very impressed with this Sig.

What did you pay? I have a 97b, and I am looking to trade it/sell it to get something new and different.

They're easy to like. Good groups. When you say creepy and heavy, do you mean in SA or DA? DA is heavy, but SA should break like a glass rod.

GregGry,

That's the strange part of this Sig. I was surfing on Gunbroker and spotted this Mint Sig and the high bid was $430.00, so I bid $431.00. Couldn't believe it when the bid closed and I was the winning bidder. Shipping was $25.00 and the FFL was $20.00.

In fact, here's the GB link:

What's wrong with that CZ-97 you have?

FloppyD,

This one breaks like a rubber rod in SA. I had a P-226 a few years back that broke like glass in SA.

Not this one. Trigger really sucks.

The dollar bid was how I got a couple of the guns I have now. I was shocked to see the email when I won! I didn't think I had a chance, as they were both about $50 under the average auction price for similar guns.

I got a Dan Wesson .357 barrel for an insanely cheap price on Auction Arms a while back, nobody bid on it after I did, until the last minute or so, and I had his bid covered anyway. I got a excellent condition SS 4" barrel and shroud for $61 shipped, about half the normal price. It was unbelieveably dirty, and appeared pitted, but it was just loaded up with lead, and after running the lead remover thing through it a half dozen times, it looked new! I had a 4" barrel sitting around, and actually just wanted the shroud, so I was very happy!

I have a very well trained P220........it hits the target in the exact spot that I aimed.........problem is that I have trouble aiming at that same spot every time I pull the trigger! Love the '220.......bought it used a couple of years ago....contacted Sig Sauer and they said that it was shipped from Germany in November 1995. Mine is blued with Hogue Rosewood grips as the only mod. I sometimes carry it during the cooler months although it's a little heavy for CC. It certainly gives a very strong feeling of security when strapped on.

One of these days I'm going to learn how to post pictures.......

Stay Safe,

Many years ago I had a Browning BDA .45 which of course was the same as the Sig Sauer P220. The DA trigger pull was rather heavy, but the SA was very light and broke clean every shot. At the same time I also owned a Colt Gold Cup and the BDA in SA could match it shot for shot each and every time. Groups like in your photo were the norm for that pistol as well. The BDA/P220 was such a marvelous design that I had my 16 year old sister, in her first range session, shooting groups like you've posted, the first time she shot it.
