Anyone interested in a THR meet there in not too distant future? They have a restaurant where we can all gather after running around like kids in a candy shop. :D
I have a couple weekends in Oct free.
For Northern Virginians, it's about a 4hr drive according to Mapquest.

Not a bad idea. Check their website for pics and info. Scroll to the bottom and click on retail stores.

Ron in PA and I went there yesterday. This about sums it up: :what:
It's HUGE and well-stocked with pretty much anything a sportsman would need. The Gun Library has an impressive collection of very nice guns priced well beyond my means. As in, "Jeeves, I'd like to look at the Westley-Richards double 20," price range. They also have a large selection of new and used guns.
Ammo selection was very good, and in contrast with most shops, rifle and pistol ammo is out on the shelves, not behind the counter. I got a 250 round box of Ultramax .223 commercial reloads, a box of S&B .38 wadcutters, a box of CCI Mini-Mags, and a box of Remington Subsonic .22 LR HPs. Also picked up a PAST recoil shield, a couple of boresnakes, and a can of Kroil. At that point I had to leave or I would've maxed out the plastic. :uhoh:
They also have a large walk-through display of some of the most impressive stuffed deer you'll ever see, and on the other side of the store a display of African animals. In the middle of the store is another big display with bear, wolves, and moose, oh my. And in the fishing section a couple of floor to ceiling fishtanks. With big bass and at least one muskielunge.
We ate in the restaurant. I had roast caribou on sourdough bread. Yum.
I am definitely going back.

Frodo,
How were the prices?
There's also apparently a Gander Mountain in Pennsylvania that opened with little fanfare last year...

Mike,
The ammo prices seemed about average. Gun prices were ok but not great. The 8 oz. can of Kroil was only $4.99, which is cheaper than midway, IIRC.
The caribou on sourdough sandwich that I had for lunch was ~$6.75. Beat that! :)

S&W mod 10-2 somebody got before me was $239 and the ~1927 1905 4th change I am getting is $150 with about 60% finish and some dings on the grips.

If you got a caribou sandwich, what other kinds of game meats do they serve?

I also saw elk and bison. Don't know about anything else.

They may have had venison, but I didn't notice it. Heck, they probably do.
