$389 doesnt sound bad, especially for one in stainless. I've seen them around here in blue for more. I have a couple of the P230's and love them. They are great pistols, accurate and reliable. If it turns you on, go for it, I think you'll be happy. :)

The SIG P232 is the best of the blowback .380s, in my opinion. Beautifully made, great sights, thin and easy to carry, accurate, and totally reliable. It's also one of the prettiest handguns ever made, especially the stainless variant.

Someone will be along shortly to tell you that the P232 is too large for its caliber, and that you ought to get a G26 or Kahr instead. The SIG may have less power than the Micro-Nines, but it's easier to shoot well thanks to the full grip and the lower recoil.

I have the alloy 230 and it's by far my favorite SiG. Get a good pocket holster, I like the ones from High Noon and Lou Alessi, at it will become a constant companion. As others have said, it's an intuitive pointer and scary accurate.

Here is another vote of praise for the Sig P232. I have a blue alloy model and a stainless model. I wouldn't part with either but if I could only have one it would be the stainless model. A gem of a firearm. If it's like new as you say, the price sounds quite good.

I also have a Sig 230 in stainless. It's a great gun. The price you quote is very reasonable. I second all coments above.

I have a new SIG P232. It is beautifully made. Accurate. Easy to shoot well.

However, there is one problem you might run into. If you have fat hands and like to push your hand high up into the grip, the slide may well scrape your hand.

You will be doing yourself, and your wallet a great diservice if you don't tcheck out one of the Bersa/Firestorm .380's also. They are about $130 less than that Sig. When we were looking for a gun for my wife, we tried out the Sig, and the Walther, and the Bersa, and went with the Bersa.

I'll admit, it might not be as pretty as the Sig, but it works just as good.

My wife is a .380 freak... she has a SIG 230 which she enjoys a lot, a Bersa Thunder and now a Walther PPK/S too.

The SIG felt very nice, while the Bersa is less expensive, a SIG is a SIG and it worth it from what I have seen.

I agree, that the SIG P232 makes for an excllent concealment
weapon. And like, Marko said, IMHO its the best of the
rest; as far as "blowback" .380's are concerned. One dealer
here locally, had the stainless model NIB for $469.95 just
recently. So, $389 for slightly used ain't too bad!

Will it chop your hand up like a 230. My 230 gave me bad slide bite, and I am hesitant to get a 232 if it does the same.

If money is no issue, the Sig is definitely the best of the "ppk styled" .380's. That said, I agree with priv8ter that you should at least give the bersa thunder .380 a look. The Bersa has nothing on the Sig in the looks/finish department, but it is just as reliable at nearly half the price! Plus the bersa doesnt have the heel mag release.

Like others have said though, it is a Sig, and you wont regret the purchase. It surely is pretty!

How many lbs is the DA and the SA trigger pull on them?

AK103K
September 23, 2003, 06:50 PM
The triggers on both my 230's are pretty light, both SA and DA, although I dont know what the actual weight is. I will say they are lighter by a lot, than any of my PPK's ever were, and all but a couple of worked revolvers I used to have. Even the DA triggers are a very nice "surprise" let off. Smooth with no crunch or creep. I hate DA pistols, and these are the only ones that I will have and carry.(my CZ70 doesnt count. There are not enough of us here to pull its trigger in DA! :) ) These little pistols are like 1911's, once you have one, you WILL have more than one, and you'll not get rid of them. :)

My regular gunshop has all three models in stock right now. SS, blue, and alloy.
Does anyone know what the warranty is on the alloy model? It felt great in my hand. Natural pointer. Beautiful pistol and perfect for carry. Lifetime warranty??? Somebody told me that~~even for the alloy framed model.

This is the warranty page from their web site. It says one year is all they offer. I will say that other than Colt, and HK, the SIGs are the only other pistols I never had to send back to have something fixed. For whatever thats worth. :)

The alloy model is the best option for carry. It weighs a scant 16 ounces unloaded. The steel frame adds durability, but it's also a good bit heavier. These guns are not multi-thousand round range guns, anyway.

The best of both worlds is actually the two-tone 232...stainless teel slide for corrosion resistance, and alloy frame for low weight *and* corrosion resistance. I don't really like two-tone guns, so I won't be swapping my blued 232 for one any time soon, but that's what I'd buy if I had to purchase a new one.

I just purchased a P232 SL. It's the stainless with hogue grips and SIG night sites. This particular model was $439 at the Big Town gunshow (Mesquite, TX....Bachman's Guns). Prior to the SIG "sale" prices, it was going for $495 at Bachman's storefront and $484 from Sporting Arms.

Mine has been absolutely flawless and is extremely accurate.

Outstanding weapon. Would be my first choice if I ever decided to CCW again on a regular basis. Reliable and accurate. One caveat. The slide would bite my hand about once every 25 rounds. Wouldn't deter me from carrying it, but did deter me from using it for regular plinking. You might want to grip it before purchasing to see if it's going to be an issue for you.

Thanks for all the imput guys. I just did a search on the Bersa's and found a ton of info. on 380's. I have to check out the Sig again.

been wondering this for a bit. what does "blowback" style mean?

(with reference to pistols. I'm sure there's another forum for the Kama Sutra fans among us)

I honestly like the little Sig. Its my 2nd favorite .380....with the pricing coming down on them they are getting closer to the CZ83..which is my favorite of the blowbacks. If you get a Sig and dont look at the CZ or the Bersa for that matter, your missing out.

Shoot well

>been wondering this for a bit. what does "blowback" style mean?

It means that the slide is not locked to the barrel, but is just blown back by recoil. Most autos using rounds more powerful than .380 lock the slide to the barrel and let the barrel recoil a short distance before unlocking.

So the barrel in a blowback gun does not move, but it does in a 1911, Glock, etc.

There are a few other ways to handle the problem; there are gas-operated autos, delayed-blowback, etc. etc... do a search.

If you check out the world guns link (http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg115-e.htm) you can see a picture of my 230 dissassembled. Notice that the barrel is mounted to the frame. Unlike most semis, the barrel to frame relationship is a constant. This is one of the reasons for the little blowback semis being so accurate.

Awesome gun,

accurate, fits in my hand nicely for a "small" gun and great quality.

Only gripe would be the mag release under the grip.

Just a follow up on the post: I went to the shop yesterday and the 232 was picked up by a guy on tuesday. The guy who bought it put it on lay away the day after I first saw it! What do they say? He who hesitates ???????????? Next time. Thanks for the imput.

Presently have an alloy and a stainless with night sights. Might sell the alloy; hardly notice any difference in the 7 oz or so. They both are very accurate and work for me with a Kramer pocket holster.
I was disappointed with the stainless slide with stainless non-removable front sight post. For ccw qualification, I had to mark the front sight black in order to clearly see it. The alloy sights with white dots were much clearer in daylight.
Solution: sent the ss slide off to Robar in Phoenix to blacken the ss slide with its integrated front sight post. Trijicon sights had to be drilled out and replaced. Now this Sig is a keeper!!

I have a stainless 230 and for the most part I love it. At one time I was considering using it for defensive purposes (I opted for my S&W 640 .357 instead) but have now relegated it to simply a fun range gun. My 230 doesn't like Federal Hydrashoks and will experience FTF's with this round, about 5% of the time, I never had a problem with Speer Gold Dot or Remington Golden Saber ammo. I also discovered that it runs better with a light coating of oil rather than grease, but that was my fault for over greasing it and creating a rather gummy mess on the feed ramp, don't know what I was thinking that day. :uhoh:
