Gunshow find

So one of the guys that buys knives from me is at the show and has spent all his birthday money on "that special firearm" instead of on knives with me. No problem as he's only an occasional buyer. He looks at the Vietnam era #14 Randall that I'm selling for a buddy and we go over the distinguishing details. We discuss the history of a 1917 S&W I have for sale. We play with the DA Vallotton scale release. I wish him a happy birthday and he heads off.

A half hour later he comes back and tells me I have to come with him "I've found the little brother to the knife you have in the case and the guy has it for cheap". Well, I don't know what he means by "cheap", but I'm intrigued so off we go.

Laying on the table with a bunch of other clutter is a Vietnam era Randall #15. The snap is missing from the stone sheath, but everything else is ok and while it's obviously been used a little there's no tragic abuse. The guy with it is a vendor that's been visiting from time to time with the guy I'm with at the show and he tells me he bought it in 1973 and he'll knock another $50 off since he "knows" me. I count out the money and we shake hands.

I picked up a Vietnam era Randall #15 from the original owner in an easy 85% condition for $400!

HSO, you're wrong. This topic shouldn't be titled "Gunshow Find" it should be titled "Gunshow Theft" with that deal!

It is only "theft" if you talk the owner down more than 20% below their asking price. (which doesn't apply to fellow vendors anyway :neener:);)

I'll clean it up a bit (just the grime and not the "character") and then decide what to do with it.

real good find, congrats. There is another one just like it somewhere in the A Shau valley, probably not as in good condition as yours.
Seriously that is way too cool!!!

I have not gone to one of the Knoxville shows this year. Maybe I need to visit every now and then. Good find. Glad you are happy with it.
