It looks just like what I want. Three inch barrel, no adjustable sights to snag, .357 mag, great grips, and only weighs 32 ounces. Just about perfect. This one could be next. The "Lady Smith" on the side doesn't bother me. It's a beautiful revolver. Could be "My Lady".
What do you think?

:D

I know, you were just kiddin' - - -

I've been keeping my eye out for a 3" 65 for some time, and I'd really prefer to have a Lady Smith version. Not enough to pay much of a premium (though they do come with nice stocks.)

Just think, if a situation came to "the Gravest Extreme," and you, as private citizen, had to pop an assailant - - - Do you want to go before the Grand Jury having used a handgun marked "Pit Bull," "Enforcer," or "Avenger?" Some places, it might be better to have used one called "Victim's Companion," or "Lady Smith."

I'm also thinking of a scrimshawed rose or like flower on the stocks . . . . I'll deal with my self image, myownself. ;)

Best,
Johnny

Close...I was looking for a 65LS for a long time, until I found a Model 65 with the 3" heavy barrel. It lacks the ejector shroud of the 65LS, but it shares all the other good features.

In my opinion, the M65 and 65LS are pretty much the ne plus ultra in carry revolvers.

I'd forgotten that the 65LS has the ej rod shroud. I don't particularly care for it myself, on the 3".

It does seem to belong on some guns, though, notably the M19 4", and possibly in 2.5 inch, and of course on the N-frame guns. I personally prefer the full length extractor stroke, though.

Don't do it! I bought a Colt "Lady Elite" .380 Mustang style pistol about a month ago. I'm gonna sell it ASAP. Since it's purchase I've had various unatural urges. I now bathe every day, no foolin', EVERY DAY! What's more I wear an apron when I dust the house. Last week I bought three new babushkas (butt, winter is comming). Yesterday I traded my Dodge pickup on a cute little Mini Cooper. DON'T BUY LADY'S GUN!

I have a Model 65LS, and I really, really, really like it. It shoots great!

The model 65 is in the 2003 catalog. However, it has the 4 inch HB. When did they stop making the 3 inch HB? I really don't care one way or the other about the ejector rod shroud. But I DO care about the barrel length. Your pistol looks great!

I was just looking at one of these yesterday. Very nice CCW revolver. If I remember correctly, the price was $454.

I was just able to get a 65-5 LS (pre-lock) NIB. It is a wonderful gun!! One of the best pointing handguns I've ever handled.

In Old English, surnames were often avocation indicators: Blacksmith, Coopersmith, etc. Perhaps Ladysmith isn't all that bad as a name... Heck, you can always buff that name off, reportedly quite easily (Some interesting threads on the various S&W forums re the 'ManSmith'.).

I, too, have 'lusted' for one... does that make me a weird? Of course not... I was weird long before there a 65LS! Seriously, what a decent package: fixed sight, the ultimate +P+ .38, six-shooter, SS, short barrel, and a nice set of grips. I had someone offer me a 65-5 3", I think. I'll wait for a 65LS...

One of the guns I most regret letting get away from me was a 3 inch Ladysmith. As others have said, it was a great balance of size, weight and power. I really liked the ejector rod shroud (it also added a wee bit of weight up front, I think) and also was fond of the matte "eggshell" finish. I didn't care one way or the other about the logo but I believe one can have Smith and Wesson replace the sideplate with an un-etched one if they prefer. I believe the one I had was one of the most perfectly fitted revolvers I have had the pleasure to own. Why did I get rid of it? Sigh...don't ask. But I know someone has a revolver they really like.

I love my 65LS. Points and handles great, enough sight radius for most people to be accurate with it, full length ejector, great grips (feel good, fit well, look great), the matte stainless is beautiful but also functional (rust and corrosion resistance of stainless but not flashy like polished stainless). It is one of my favorite guns and is easily my most used revolver (probably why it might be going out of time- with lead or with JSPs it has a tendency to shave it a bit). Mine just might be the only gun I own that I would never sell regardless of my situation, I'd skip meals to pay bills before I'd sell it (if you saw the size of the gut you'd know that this is quite a statement from me :D ).

I like it enough that I just might buy another. Mine is my first .357 so I hate to do any cutting on it. Get another and I can send it to a smith to be made into a DAO and have the hammer bobbed. I also want a 60LS and some of the other LS options also have my interest. I like wood grips on wheelguns and only the LS models provide them as standard, I like the matte stainless (though I also like the 36LS' blueing), and the lighter springs make for a lighter trigger pull and smoother action.

I have owned three 3" 65's. I will trade one off and decide a couple months later that it was the stupidest thing I've ever done and began the search to find another one. Own it a couple years...decide to trade it off...I now have one with a great action, accurate and reliable. I WILL not trade it off. I may have my name stamped in the frame or something to keep me from doing something stupid again...

Being a lady myself I think I can pull this purchase off. I've been looking for a great carry revolver for back up on the job. I like the 3" for the accuracy and concealability. I'm still paying off my last gun purchase so this one's on my list....:D

There are only three guns that I own two identical models and the 3" mod 65 is one of them. I have a buddy with the 65LS and he likes his as well. I have matching right and left Alessi BSU holsters as well. You unless you like the new S&W or the shrouded ejector rod, consider a 65-2 as I did with the pinned barrel and recessed chambers in the cylinders.

Another advantage of the LadySmith series is that they usually come with better DA triggers than their "manly" counterparts. Also, a little Flitz and a couple hours of gentle polishing will remove the Ladysmith logo, and give the entire gun a bright frosted appearance, though I havn't done this to mine yet.
