I'd like to hear thoughts, opinions, and feelings on the Springfield XD series pistols.
Also, do they take Glock mags?

I've got an XD-9. It's the one that I consistently shoot best out of my collection.

Zero failures of any sort in around 300 rounds. Mags are reasonably priced and available. Disassembly and reassembly are brain-dead simple. Trigger is good and absolutely consistent as there’s no DA/SA transition. The grip safety is completely unobtrusive. It takes night sights for Sig’s so that’s not a problem to obtain. Several companies are making holsters now to fit it.

The ONLY negative about the gun is the finish of the slide. It’s not that great looking nor does it appear to be that durable. I’m basing this on my USP45 and Walther P99 being nearly indestructible. If Springfield would choose a tennifer-type finish for the slide the gun would be close to perfect.

No, Glock mags don't fit the XD/HS.

The Beretta 92 does fit, I believe, with a hole drilled into the front side to accommodate the mag release...

This thread linked below also mentions that the xd-40 mag will hold 15 rounds of 9mm...

Sounds like that works, but I'll stick to 9mm mags, thank you!!

I had a XD-40. Probably sits behind CZ75s for best bang for your buck. Its a great pointer. 500 rounds with two stove pipes during the break in period ( Uhhhh probably limpwristed :) ) I havnt tried different mags for the XD40. The XD9 can use various types of High Caps.

Great group of guys over there. They are very helpful.

I love mine. 300 rounds and no failures. I got a Dillon Master for it, and a Hogue Handall. Next up is Trijicon night sights.

The XD-9 will function fine with XD-40 magazines, which hold 15 rounds of 9mm ammo. Cheapest factory hicaps on the market at $20 and change. And yes, according to the ATF, it's legal.

I have had an XD40 in the 5" Tactical version for about 6 weeks now. First thing I did was replace the factory sights with an XSpress Big Dot Tritium set up and absolutely love it. I can routinely shoot 9 out of 10 shots into a .50 cent piece sized hole at 10 meters. The 10th round is usually only a hairs breadth away from the others. I changed my recoil spring to a 24 lb version from Wolff and there is very little felt recoil. Truly a pleasure to shoot. It has become my carry piece and goes everywhere with me.

I shot Barettas, S&W, Glocks, Rugers and SIGs learning that I loved to shoot pistols. Now I'm learning to pistol shoot with my XD-9.

I've put over 700 rounds of white box, reloads, & premium hollow points through it with no problems. Had failure to eject with snake shot ...just tried it for fun. It shoots pretty much where you point it and as soon as I can start getting groups at 25 feet like you guys get at 25 yards, I'm throwing a party :D

It's economical, easy to shoot and take apart , ...and no, it doesn't have the sexiest finished slide in the world, but IMO its a great piece of hardware, well built and well appointed with thoughtful technology!

I have the XD in the .357 Sig caliber. A great gun for a fair price. Seem's to be built like a tank.

I was lucky enough to buy a Gen 1 HS2000 when they first hit the shelves. Now, a couple years later I still think it's one of the best values out there. Even at the higher prices SA is charging it's underpriced.

Nice, moderately priced gun with a good SA-like trigger.

G19 sized, but with a better grip, for me at least.

I won't hesitate to own one myself ;)

I bought one used at the last gunshow. I only been out once with it, firing 200 rounds. I find that it I just don't like it as much as my Glock 17 or 19. It seems that the barrel axis sits much higher. Zero malfunctions. I'n glad I bought it used instead of new.
