Something like a large ring 98 with 8x57 barrel taken off and a new military 308, 30-06, or 7x57 FN replacement screwed back on?

Maybe I'm having flashbacks from the '60's , but doesn't someone still do that kind of thing anymore?

Howa makes barreled actions------but if you're going to drop it into a Butler Creek---you might as well buy the complete gun from them.
