Anyone choreographed Georgia Arms 200 grain .45 Colt Defensive Rounds?

I have always been impressed with Georgia Arms ammunition; their quality seems to be excellent and their prices provide a real value (IMHO). I recently received three hundred rounds of their 200 grain, .45 Colt, Gold Dot personal defense ammunition. These are new rounds with nickel/brass cases. I suspect they will achieve an approximate 900 FPS muzzle velocity from a four/five inch barrel. Has anyone choreographed these loads or does anyone have information regarding their muzzle velocity?
Thanks and regards to all -- Roy

Well, on their website and on the packages the ammo comes in (plastic pouches), it says 1100 feet per second, which is identical ballistically to the Cor-Bon defensive .45 Colt load (but a whole lot cheaper).
Probably get a little better out of the 6" barrel of my 25-5.

Nightcrawler,
Thank you for your rapid, accurate reply. Boy, I feel dumb. After reading your post, I again looked at the plastic bag/pouch in which Georgia Arms ships their rounds and it clearly says “FPS: 1100”. My answer was, in fact, right in front of my eyes and I neglected to see it.
You are also right re the Georgia Arms rounds compared to CorBon loads (which I currently carry). Both are 200 grain, 1100 FPS muzzle velocity, .45 Colt rounds and I feel certain both are excellent. However, the Georgia Arms’ rounds use Gold Dots, which I suspect may be even better projectiles.
Again thanks and regards – Roy

I just gotta be a smartass here...
Has anyone choreographed these loads?
Why yes I have. In fact, after some of my expert instruction, a box of 50 auditioned to be Justin Timberlake's backup dancers. You'll see them in his newest video.
They learn 8-counts quickly and they have sharp moves. I was impressed.

I simply cannot imagine why I am so darn happy to be reunited with the TFL/THR hard-core cadre. Such a non-judgmental group.

Went to the Georgia Arms web site & could not find the round you're speaking of.....inexpensive .45 colt, other than the cowboy rounds, are near impossible to find...that's the only thing holding me up from buying the Ruger Birds Head.....not into reloading anymore.....of which do you speak??? PS: does anyone own a Ruger Birds Head in the case colored offering??? If so, how has the finish held up and how id the recoil with the heavier loads???

Check it out. (http://www.georgia-arms.com/pistol.htm#qr)
They still have it listed as a 260 grain JHP. This load is no longer in production, as I found out when I ordered mine, and has been replaced with a 200 grain Gold Dot at 1100 feet per second.
Same price, I believe, at $17.00 for a box of 50, $33.50 for a box of 100.

Thanks NIghtcrawler, so let me get this straight..you order the 260gr JHP that travels 850fps and get in return the 200gr JPH that travel 1100fps-now that's got to be a big disappointment to someone...have you ever used the new PMC .45 rounds, the JSP's and target loads?

A 200grain Gold Dot at 1,100 just became a DAMNED good reason to buy a 45LC *anything* for defense. The price is just a bonus :).
Because that's the new king of the hill, until Cor-Bon gets smart and loads the 165 Pow'R'Ball into 45LC cases.

165 grain bullets in a .45 Colt case? BLASPHEMER! Stick to your .40s if you want 165 grain bullets! :D And besides, why on earth would you need Powerball in a revolver? Reliable feeding simply isn't an issue in a wheelgun.
They didn't just send me the new load, they told me when I ordered that the old stuff was discontinued.
What I'd REALLY like in .45 Colt, and I hear Buffalo Bore is working on, would be a 250 grain Keith bullet at 1000 feet per second. BB has a similar load for .44 Special, and in an e-mail they told me they're working on such a .45 Colt load. They told me they're trying to develop new powders so the round will get the power at very low pressures, so that's why it's taking longer.
I hope they can pull it out!

why on earth would you need Powerball in a revolver? Reliable feeding simply isn't an issue in a wheelgun. Mayhap because they want (real or preceived) reliable expansion regardless of material at the target.

Nightcrawler provided your answer before I was on-line. I will add, however, that I have been VERY pleased with Georgia Arms quality and affordability in general, and have found the 300 rounds of .45 Colt (200 grain Gold Dots) to be flawless.
Regards.
