7.62X51 South African surplus

I have some of this i've been shooting through my Spanish fr8 and was wondering if is it alright to shoot through a Remington 700 .308 Win?I want to get a 700 sometime and was thinking about a .300 win mag but the ammo is expensive and thought I could get in more trigger time with a .308 Win if I can shoot surplus 7.62X51 out of it.

It isn't surplus, turns out. It's cheap commercial stuff. Had to adjust the gas system to get it to work in my FAL. I hear it's not as quality as the Portugese or Australian surplus, but it'll work.

I do believe you can shoot 7.62x51 ammo out of a commercial bolt gun, but I'm not positive.

AIM surplus has some Santa Barbara 7.62X51 does anyone know if it's hotter?

Don't know if its hotter. But everything I have read indicates its OK to shoot milsurp 7.62X51 out of a .308. I have shot prolly 100 rounds of milsurp out of my Rem 700.
