I have been hearing alot of good things about the NEW SureFire L4 flashlight.
I checked in the SureFire 2003 catalog, and it is not even listed there, so it must be a recent addition to their line.
:D :p :D
Does anyone have a Surefire L4 and what do you think about it?
What's a good price for a L4?
Thanks...

I don't, but here's one of many reviews about this light. This one is by fellow THR member, Dr. Jones. ;)

$119.97 for a L4 w/ 12 free batteries!! :what: The only problem is that they sold out in just a few hours. :banghead:
You might want to send Grant at G&R Tactical (yet another THR member) a PM. I'm sure that he'll get you a good deal on one.. ;)

That's one bummer thing about not living in San Diego anymore. I used to shoot with one of the Surefire Reps. I got a free G2, and I always knew about the newest lights.

This guy at my class over the weekend had one. It is HIGHLY tactical. I'm ashamed I didn't jump on the boat first. The only way it could be more tactical is if it were made from carbon fiber and/or titanium.
It seemed brighter than my A2 but didn't have the range.

Let me see if I understand this. The L4 uses 4 LEDs and two CR123 lithium batteries and puts out tactically useful 65 lumens for about an hour and then up to 3 hours of 'useful' light, but apparently not for tactical applications. The cost is well of $100.
I am not sure that I buy into the L4 being much better for tactical applications than other 2 cells Surefire or Scorpion lights. No doubt the lights will last longer as LEDs should have something like 100K run time. The light won't be getting hot like the comparable 2 celled tactical lights. It does seem to run through the same batteries about as quickly as other 2 celled lights.
While I have not seen this light, my experience with other LED lights has been that they can be extremely bright, but have a very limited projected range. Their reach out and illuminate range is comparatively short.
In the sources mentioned here, I didn't see any that had posted information to indicate how the 65 lumen rating was assessed at what distance. For example, I can light up somebody at 75 yards and more with 2 celled lights like Surefires or a Scorpion and be able to tell if I can recognize that person or not. Will the L4 perform as well?

I think I will just buy the LED head for my e2. Will be less than half the price of the L4.

The L4 is awesome torch! It is by far my favorite SF. I could carry any SF made and choose the L4. The battery life is excellent and power output is awesome. I sell them for $120.00 + $5.00 shipping if anyone is interested...

Double Naught- Actually the L4 uses ONE 5 watt LED that is a digitally controlled, meaning as power in the lithiums fade, the light steps down it's output, giving the user usable light beyond what an incan would. Saying that, it is by far getting to be one of the most popular to EDC. G&R's price is the lowest I have seen anywhere.
The L4 throws out an incredible amount of light, in fact it throws out a wall of light and is just as bright as my 6P or E2e.
For me this is the light to have everday.
It is indeed useful in tactical situations.
As I have said before, I work hard for my money and when I spend money on tools for my work and tools that could one day save my hide, I only buy the best and for that it's Surefire and the L4.
I think if you invest in one you will not be disappointed. I have two.
Sorry Grant, I got these elsewhere before I hooked uo with you on the last group buy:D

I am strongly thinking about getting the L4 -- it sounds like a great everyday carry flashlight -- and it's super "tactical"!
