A friend has the sister to my shotgun. We're talking about a Winchester Model 12 16 Guage with a modified choke. It is good condition. Mine is in full choke.

I want to buy the gun from her, but I want to be fair. What is a fair price for this gun? Bear in mind it's in 16 guage...

Have you looked up the book value?

I saw a 16ga. Mod. 12 in a gun store earlier this summer for $650 in pretty good shaape and it didn't stay on the shelf long.

Good Condition can mean a lot of things. Was the gun re-finished?

The old 16s had a short chamber (2 9/16") what is the chamber length?

No, I don't think it was refinished. I wouldn't want to estimate the % of original finish, but it looked like a solid, well used, well cared for shotgun. I don't remember the chamber length. I only looked at it once back in the summer.

Around here, they'd go for $400 to $650ish depending on condition. IMO, if you gave her $500 you'd both do OK.
