Any suggestions on where I can look/shop for tube magazine extentions for my Remington 870 Express 12 gauge online? Preferably reasonably priced, non-diffcult installation, non-used, etc. :)

Brownells.com and MidwayUSA.com are two fantastic places to look. If you have your C&R FFL you can also qualify for discounts with them.

Where ever you purchase it you are going to have to deal with removing the dimples assuming it's a recent (last 10 year) purchase.

Whaaaaaaat...?
And yes, it is a very recent purchase...I bought it a month ago...What do you mean by removing the dimples? Am I going to have any problems if I order an extention? Can anyone help me identify any potential problems before I make this decision? OMG! :(

There are dimples on the inside of the magazine tube at the end which are used to hold the magazine spring retainer in place. These need to be removed as they would prevent a shell from passing by into the extension. Once they are removed you can use any extension you want. If greater than a +1 extension I believe a clamp is recommeded to secure it to the barrel.
Also once the dimples are removed you may have issues with the barrel cap staying tight should you decide to remove the extension.
There are people way more knowedgeable than me on this. If you search "dimples" as a title in the Shotgun forum you should find several different ways to accomplish the task. I wouldn't think a gunsmith would charge all that much to remove them. Search Results (http://www.thehighroad.org/search.php?searchid=5270934)

My 870 made in 1994 has the dimples. Have to go back further than that.

You can easily grind off the dimples from the inside of the magazine tube. Its an easy job if you take your time and use the right tools. Ive tried pounding the the dimples out but grinding seems to be the most efficent.
If it were me, I would have just bought a HD 870 with a +2 extention already installed for $300. :D
Its not too late, sell the 870 you have locally, then add a little cash and buy a new 870 with the extention.

eh i think im just going to leave it as it is and try to saw the barrel off to 18.5". It was a gamble between mag extension or shorter barrel.

Even with an 18.5" bbl. you can use an extension. Removing the dimples is not really difficult, easier than sawing the bbl is going to be.

The problem is, I know NOTHING about gunsmithing nor do I possess any of the necessary tools to do any modifications. I just wanted to order an extension and install it. I don't really have any knowledge on installing things on weapons that requires special tools to do so lol

a drill or a dremel tool. not high tech really. you could probably even do it by hand with the right file (fine half-round) and followed with some emery to polish.

I would recommend, as above, to sell it and buy the gun you want. The price you will spend on a +2 extension is more than the difference in price of the new shotty. Also, 18.5" barrels, with rifle sights, are cheap. You can then sell your barrel here and make back some of the cost.

I bought my 870 with the short barrel and mag extension already in place. That way no worries about trying to get one put on later.
