I'm trying to find out more about vintage shotguns. I've got an old british Carrington St of Nottingham shotgun owned by my grandfather & cant find any literature on it?

I looked in Geoffrey Boothroyds book, Gun Collecting and in the list of Gunsmiths and Gunmakers of the United Kingdom 1908 there is a Peter Knight , 22 Carrington St, Nottingham listed. That all the info there was.

Prior to W.W. I there were hundreds of smithies making firearms in England. Most of whom are long gone. Skoghund's info is likely all you'll find.

Besides all those small makers, there was W&C Scott, who made guns for many small shops and badged them as requested.

One tipoff if it's a Scott is a screw at the pivot of the opening lever.

No harm there, the Scotts were well made and excellent shotguns.

HTH....
