Has anybody used this?
The instructions call for heating the part with a torch. I have two questions.
1) if I have already cleaned the part, can I use my oven on low heat?
2) Is heating the part to be blued a must?
Thanks for the info.

I have used this kit and am not impressed. It was no better than Oxphoblue or 44/40 or what ever Brownells calls their stuff.
I heated my parts with a torch but I don't see why an oven can't be used.

So what have you used that works, short of a hot-tank professional bluing?

Perma Blue works for me. Degrease with Dawn, wipe down with alcohol, heat parts in oven to 150 degrees, wipe solution on parts (or dunk), leave for more than the 1 minute bottle instructions, rub gently with steel wool, rinse with water and wipe dry. Repeat until you get the desired results. Reheating of parts is not required. I always repeat at least twice and have repeated as much as six times. I use latex gloves from start to finish. When satisfied with the appearance, wipe down with oil. Let part/parts sit overnight, if possible. Oil again, wipe down and reassemble.
