Fellow Texans!

Charles Cotton, NRA board member and owner of the Texas Chl Forum (http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_Forum/index.php) has started Project One Million: Texas (http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_Forum/viewtopic.php?f=96&t=20739). The idea is to Quadruple the number of Texas NRA members.

I for one, will be giving some gift memberships and twisting some arms at work.

I'd rather there be 1 million TX CHL carriers...

Now that's a project I could get behind.

Well, in light of the current political climate, I would encourage everyone to do both... join the NRA and get a CCW permit.

Did the associate membership for $10.00...

I don't need more dead trees laying around and that will save on postage.. :)

How about one million TSRA members?

Note--I am both an NRA and TSRA member.
And a Texas CHL holder, to boot. :)

I will be getting my NRA membership within the next week.
Unfortunately, I'm only 18, so the CHL will have to wait a couple years:fire:

I also want to encourage everyone in Texas who sees it worthwhile to be an NRA member to consider joining TSRA too.

No kidding. We could get anything we wanted here with those numbers.

When the NRA shows some faint inclination to grow a pair, I'll consider joining. For now their utter lack of doing anythign to oppose Holder's confirmation means I can think of better ways to spend my money. Here are some lyrics to a song by The New Chistie Minstrals (you youngsters can google 'em) that say it pretty well for me.

As I was walkin' in D C, 'twas on a fine spring day
What d'you suppose I chanced to see, desp'rate to get away?
They tumbled out the Senate's doors, afraid to take a stand
'Twas a company of cowards, I could tell by the way they ran

CHORUS:
Oh get around oh get around get around
Oh get around get away
'Tis a company of cowards
And they're called the N R A

You should've seen their fancy suits, as shiny as new glass
And when they passed E. Holder, they kissed him on the ass.
And such were their pretensions, we laughed until we cried
It's a pity, Mis-ter Obama, that they're not on your side.

CHORUS:
Oh get around oh get around get around
Oh get around get away
'Tis a company of cowards
And they're called the N R A

YOu can read all about the NRA's glorious stand on Holder here: http://sipseystreetirregulars.blogspot.com/2009/01/melting-snowflakes-making-excuses-in.html

I imagine you voted for Obama too..., after all, "he's not that bad"...
Are you part of the problem, or part of the solution? (and if the latter, which part, exactly?)

I imagine you voted for Obama too If you were any further off base you really would be an Orion Engineer - living on a planet circling one of the stars in Orion's belt!

I just do not see the NRA as stepping up when a lot of people (myself obviously included) believe they should. If nomination of easily the most anti-RKBA AG candidate in several decades is not something to spend a little political capital on what is? I guarantee you that they will not stop with a new AWB. The same wackos who don't believe we should be able to have anything that resembles what the armed forces use also believe it is a terrible thing to kill Bambi - and Thumper, too for that matter.

As I said, when the NRA shows any sign of beling inclined to grow a pair I will spport them. For the moment from where I sit they are cowards. BTW, did you actually read Mike VanderB's blog? If not then you do not have the full story. He quotes an email from the NRA explaining why they are not opposing Holder.

Chuck Heston must be spinning in his grave.

I tried reading Mr VanderB blog.

Alas, it was terribly painful as it seems to be a bundle of incoherent thoughts.

Or maybe i was just too sleepy :P

Gave my dad a CCW class for Christmas (nice linkage of guns and religion eh?)

Have to see about the NRA membership for a few friends...

We should all do this. I'm a member and I will enlist as many people as I can. There are not even a million people in my state but that should be our goal. 1 million members from every state.
I suspect that the same people who would not join the NRA for the Right to keep and bear arms would be the same people who would move to Canada if it ever came to gun play. Same as it was a long time ago.

Remember New Orleans and Katrina?

Maybe everyone forgot what the NRA did there.
