Mossberg AR stock adaptor poll

If someone were to manufacture an Ar-15 stock adaptor that could use any ar-15 stock, was relatively inexpensive, and had a more suitably placed safety for pistol grip use, would you buy it?

Would you still buy it if you had to drill a hole in the rear of the triggerguard to use the adaptor's safety?

Cavalry Arms plans to come out with AR stock adapter for the Mossberg 500/590, FYI.

are those No's because you don't own mossbergs and wouldn't buy one, no's because you wouldn't by one if you had to drill a hole in the rear portion of the triggerguard, or no, you wouldn't buy one, even though you have a mossberg?

No cause I don't like the concept.
Rather use the bucks on expending ammo in practice.

I'm with Sam on this one.

Unless you are working on an entry team that requires transition between M16 variants and a Mossberg... what is the point?

I think looking cool is more about running a COF with a stock (stock) gun and doing it very, very well.

As I prefer the Winchester Defender for a defensive type shotgun, if I NEEDED a gun to aid in transitions to an M4 or AR I would simply buy the FN Police.

However, I am not on an entry team and the standard stock (after the 20,000 shells I have put through it) works well.

Buying more ammunition is the best way to become competent with a firearm, not adding the next most wonderful gadget.

After ammunition I would rather put the money towards a new Winchester Super X2 Practical...

So....do I want a stock that solves the problem of poor safety location on my Mossberg due to the installation of the stock in the first place?
What was the benefit of this again?
I like my regular plastic stock.
Neat idea though.

The reason I think an AR stock adaptor for a spossberg should have a built in safety is the mossberg tang safety is only really accessable with a standard shotgun style stock. I suppose I worded the poll incorrectly, as i intended for it to be aimed at people who expressed interest in a mossberg adaptor on brobeebiter's thread, not necessarily people who don't own mossbergs.

An ar stock adaptor is not a replacement for training, and It was not my intention to state that it was.

In any event, the simplest way to do an ar-15 style safety (which is of merit, since the goal is to replicate ar-15 ergonomics) would be to have the rotary safety extend a rod through the rear of the triggerguard, which would necessitate having the trigger guard hole.

All i really wanted to know was if that was a deal breaker, and if i should persue other options.

Sam,

I've been a member of the site started from it’s start; I just never had anything worth saying. Every time I see a juicy topic, someone else beats me to posting what I wanted to say. ;) I didn’t mean to hijack this thread, but on this one, I'm a little more in "the know" then the average bear.

We're going to run an NRA shotgun class with the SST-870's in a month or so and work up a manual of arms for the system. We've already supplied them to some PD's (as well as a T&E request from the SEALs). We know the system isn't for everyone, but for the folks that have a need, we feel we have one of the better options for it.

I'd buy one, but not if it included an integral safety. I don't really see the need to create a new safety - a slot could be cut in the adapter and a replacement safety button with an extension that protrudes through the slot could be used to access the safety mechanism.
