I just bought an H&K 45 compact (HK45C) and it is positively the nicest pistol I have ever shot. The advertised 30% recoil reduction is very noticeable; the kick is more of a strong push that is easy to manage, which makes followup shots much easier. It is thin, light (my scale weighs it in at 2.2 lbs loaded and considering it holds 8+1 of .45 ACP...), and extremely accurate. I can carry it in a holster at 2'Oclock or 4'O'Clock, cocked with the safety on - which is easy to disengage after drawing from a holster. This is a sweet gun and is worth looking into if you are thinking of purchasing a new autoloader.

This is on my short list. How comfortable is it CCW?

I ordered a Tucker Leather "The Answer" IWB for it a few days ago and am trying to find a nice appendix carry holster for it. I may even order a Milt Sparks VMII for it. All of them are comfortable but you will know it is there. It does weigh over two pounds and it is hanging from your belt.
Here are a few pictures of the holsters to give you a better idea of how they will ride on your belt:
I use three different holsters: the Milt Sparks Versa Max II, the Tucker Leather "The Answer" IWB, and the Comp-Tac Infidel 2 O'Clock. Notice how the Tucker Leather holster rides lower than the VMII, which I find makes it more concealable and is actually more comfortable IMO.
