I had my 550 overhauled by Dillon. I can't believe the job that they did on that thing. It is hard to believe that it's not brand new. The great thing about it is that they will do that if you own a Dillon press, free of charge. They even paid for the return shipping

It's great to have a company that backs their stuff up like that.

I Two have to second that about Dillon. I have there SL 900 shotgun loader and they are as good as it gets period. I had a friend who's Dillon press was in a house fire and to say the least was pretty much destroyed. He sent it to get fixed and back it came brand new, no charge. What can you say about that.
I also have had some dealings with Hornady and they are also top notch.

We tear it all apart, throw everything into the solvent tank for a good scrubbing, inspcet for worn/damaged bits to replace, reassemble and lube, then test everything out to be sure all is adjusted properly and functioning. $39.95, which includes return shipping. my guess would be that that charge is for shipping and maybe some hadleing fee.Still pretty cheap.

Did this overhaul include part upgrades, and who did you deal with?

During a warranty parts swap, I asked Dillon about updating my bought new, 15 year old 550B's e-clip link pins with the current lock nut style, and was told it would be around $100. I declined, and wish I was one of the lucky ones that seems to get free upgrades, complete rebuilds for free, etc... I even included my original receipt to show I was up and up, which also had a bunch of other $$$ Dillon gear I bought at the time.

Kinda burns me up when I read how 4th hand owners who buy on Ebay destroy them w/o a receipt get the works. I do like Dillon gear overall, and guess you just need to get the right person at the time.

I did buy it used though .
When I first got it , it needed a few parts replaced
they did not give the to me for free .
Can not remember what they were now though .

My overhaul included a new main shaft, both link arms, and hooks, crank kit, nuts and washers, slide return spring, and new roller bracket.
And they shipped it back.

Geez, I guess if I ran it over with a steamroller, or it burned up in a fire I would be covered, but show them a receipt from a long time owner with a lot more than just a press purchase and I gotta pay full price? :confused:

I know they don't owe me the updated parts, just the same a price break or complimentary gesture would have been appreciated, especially when I read stories like yours... Seems you got the dude/dude-et on just the right day, and hate experiencing all or nothing CS disparity I see with Dillon and other companies.

I called one of the salesmen, and they gave me a repair order number, and I sent it to them. I even called to check on the progress, and they were very nice about it too.
