It seems most people like the AS trigger of the walther and smith guns. I owned an early P99 in .40 and found the trigger very distracting and kind of weird. The other day I played with a P99 with the DAO trigger and thought it was pretty good and consistant. My question is, is there anyone else who prefers the DAO trigger? Also can the DAO trigger be lightened up? I am thinking about getting a SW99OL compact.

Are you refering to the QA model? It is a partially cocked DA like the Glock but with a heavier 8 pound trigger. They no longer sell the true DAO model which had an even heavier trigger pull.

Yes I think the OL is the same as the QA for walther. I won the gun either way and we be getting it soon to review. I was hoping I could get a trigger job done on it to get it a little lower than the reported weight.

There were originally three different triggers available. S&W offers only the DAO trigger on the SW99. That is not the same as the QA offered on the Walther P99.

My Walther catalog is a bit dated so I don't know if they still offer all three or only the QA and AS triggers these days.
