Hello guys,
I need your quick advice. A local gun shop has 2 consignments AR's that I ran across last nigt. Shop opens in a couple of hours and I want to get another AR while they are around. I have never shot a Colt but heard great things about them. Choices:
1) Colt Match Target HBAR 20" without the threaded barrel = $1050
2) Like New Bushmaster Carbine 16" = $800

Is a Colt worth the extra cash?? I'm sure these guns will be gone by the end of the day if not sooner..... I know several here have great experience with the AR system, what are your expert thoughts?

Colt will always be Colt, but you can't go wrong with either. But the price on the Bushmaster? Wow.

I'm not an AR'ophile so take this for what it's worth. I would personally get the Colt as I like full sized rifles and it probably has a heavier barrel and better trigger as it is a match rifle (just a guess). I also like colts better than Bushmaster, though Bushmasters are no slouches either. I guess it depends on what you require a full sized target rifle or a shorter carbine.

+1 for lipadj46, If you need a carbine go carbine if you need a long gun go long. I'm not a Colt fan but thats a good price on them both. the Colt will also have a higher resale value if ever get the urge to sell it.

45B@cav I just picked up a Colt Match Target (MT6700) at my local gunshop on Tuesday for $1047. I haven't got to shoot it yet but did have it apart for cleaning and it seems to be a well made gun! It supposedly has a match trigger and barrel. I picked it over a LMT that was about $200 more. That was a tough choice!

I have two, Do not know about the match trigger. I replaced triggers on mine with Jewel two stage which are much, much better. One has a custom semi bull barrel upper, free floated under factory handguards by Accuarcy Speaks. It's sub moa, the other with a stock upper will out shoot some bolt action guns. Unless you just have to have a light handy carbine go for the Colt.

I would buy whichever config you like more. For me it would be the 20".

His was used, I found it for him in a local gunshop. He was a bit skeptical but now he really likes the full size rifle. This one had so little wear in the shop that after 20 rds through it he had more wear than what showed on it beforehand. Somebody lost out big time on his rifle, he got it for $899.
If you like carbines get one, but if you want a few more inches of barrel and a fixed stock then get the full sized rifle.

Have your dealer look into SOG's lineup of available AR's. A friend told me this morning (he has his C&R FFL) that SOG has Bushmaster AR's listed for around $800.
If you go to their website, no price is listed due to their wholesale status. Must be a dealer to purchase directly from them.

Unless something has changed, the HBAR still comes with the stock (nasty) trigger.

The Hbar was my 1st AR and is very accurate (sub moa) and only cost me about $675.00 NIB back before the ban. Having said that the rest have been M-4 and carbine configurations except an SP1. I personally don't like the non removable carry handles on the HBAR and SP1 and that would be the deal maker for me as well as the compact package of the 16" especially with telescopic stock.

Yeah, they still do and, yeah, they are nasty. If I were buying a Colt, I'd figure in the cost of a trigger replacement when computing my purchase.
