Is anyone out there reloading their own shotgun slugs? If so what equipment do you have and what do I need to get started. I have a single stage rock chucker press??? that I would like to be able to do this on if possible. Thanks for the replies.

I don't myself, but the easiest way to get started would be to get a shotgun press (you need all kinds of different stuff compared to a metallic reloading press), and use these slugs. http://gardnerscache.com/12ga_525gr_sabot_slug_100pc_.html

Those go into a standard shot wad and get a regular folded crimp on top. The alternative is to use bore diameter slugs like most factory loads, but then you will need a drill press to apply the roll crimp.

You need a shotshell loader to load shotshells.

Doing it on a Rockchucker is possible, but not practical, and very expensive for the dies, if you could still even find them somewhere.

You can buy a Lee Shotgun loader for 30 bucks, and a Lee Slug mold for $20, and load them in plastic wads just like normal shotshells.

I bought a MEC 9000 off of craigslist for a really good price and can recommend it. You can't change gauges on the 9000 series but since I only shoot 12 gauge, it isn't a problem for me.
