If those extended mags are made by Pro Mag, take them back and get your money back NOW. They are WORTHLESS except as expensive targets. I mention it because it looks exactly like an extended mag I got for my Ruger P90.

The mags are factory SIG mags.

I too prefer the wood grips, but they are just too pretty to mar. I'm hard on my gear so I'm keeping them in my safe until I want to pretty up the gun again.

Weight wise it is much heavier than non SS pistols, but I'm a big guy so it doesn't bother me. In fact I feel that SS helps absorb recoil so I'm back on target sooner. Also some of it is personal preference, weight feels like quality to me. I don't enjoy light guns like glocks as I never have to carry (Canada doesn't allow open or concealed carry, with very few civilian exceptions). Also the stainless steel frame should hold up to more abuse. In my reasearch, I've head many time that polymer SIG frames will get beat up over time. Stainless steel frames are good for life. Plus no rust, easier care as I don't need to reblue, no holster wear etc...

Ever since a remy 870 express got rust on it, I now make every effort to buy nickel/ss.

That is one awesome looking gun. Do you mind me asking how much it ran? I saw the MSRP online, but from what I've seen they almost always go below MSRP.

I really like it with the wood grips.

All you need is a nice leather holster now and you are set.

Congratulations drvrage! You'll absolutely love the shove of a Sig 45acp! And how about that beavertail? Sweet! The wood grips are definitely the cat's meow on that particular firearm. If you haven't shot a Sig Sauer in 45acp, you are in for still more surprises! WOOT! :what:

You sure went all out for your first gun. It looks awsome.
Most people end up with an old beater for a first gun.

Excellent pick! Have recently become a Sig fan myself.

Question about the mags: you said they are factory Sig...where did you find them and how much? Or did they come with the gun?

The gun ran me $1700 Canadian with Tax and the spare mags deliver and import costs. I know I know this is brutally expensive, but remember this is Canada, so the exchange rate, 13% sales tax and we do not have a competitive market. The few gun sellers can sell for whatever price they want, because there is basically no competition. Each one is a niche market retailer.

The reason why my first pistol was a doozy is that the political left is one inch away from taking power again in Canada and due to some high profile shootings in Canada, Montreal and Vancouver all the left parties have made a handgun ban part of their official platform. All we need is for the conservatives to loose once and *poof* all hanguns are gone.

Now no one knowns if that after a handgun bad if the government will grandfather existing handgun owners, confiscate with compensation or confiscate without compensation. None of the parties have specified what they would do, they just said they would "ban" handguns.

I'm hoping the left never ever gets elected again, but that is not likely here in Canada. It could happen at any time as we only have a conservative minority government. But in the event of a handgun ban, I'm hoping for grandfathering. I figure if I can't buy any handguns in the future, go big or go home. I'd rather have one nice one than a bunch of cheap ones.
