Every time you folks start talking about guns I want to buy one.

Home invasion? Need more guns.
Competition shooting? Need more guns.
New gun out? Need more guns.
New action out? Need more guns.
The sky is blue? Need more guns.

I'm never going to get out of debt hanging out here! :banghead: :cuss: :D

It's better for you than heroin and cheaper, more space efficient then cars and have ever priced how much putting in a wine seller would be....shheeeshhh you are getting off easy buddy. :neener:

You need to look at the pros not the cons. :D

Chris

oops I mean Cellar. Figure I would leave it in the body of the post because it changes the meaning in a rather humerous way. Just run down to my wine seller and grab a nice Merlot, by the way his name is Bernie. :D

This board stinks? I've heard of packet sniffing but that's a new one on me. (rimshot - and all the IT types groan)

What is this "debt" thing you speak of? Rule #1 - the only thing you borrow money for is a mortgage. For everything else you either save up the $ to buy it, decide to get by with something less expensive that you can pay cash for, or just do without it. Rule #2 - see Rule #1.

121. Resist the temptation to buy a boat.

From Life's Little Instruction Book.

A lot of us have resisted that (hey, boat maintenance would take time away from shooting!).

Maybe it's a silly book, but it also has gems like:

2. Have a dog.

17. Live beneath your means.

And, my favorite piece of instruction for Mr.-and-Mrs. General Public:

148. Learn to handle a pistol and rifle safely.

The author's H. Jackson Brown, Jr. (c) 1991, Rutledge Hill Press, Nashville.

.308 or .223:Need more guns.

Thanks cracked. Because I still don' t have an AR, a Kalashinkov, a 9mm or a .45. I have 2 .308s but no .223s.

That's at least 5 guns right there. I already have several of them picked out of course.

Well, see http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=40384 for a list that is only a couple days old and has already changed quite a bit.

Guns aren't an expense, they're an investment.

Now shooting guns, that's an expense.

"...I'm never going to get out of debt..." Quit buying on credit.
"...flashlights or it gets worse..." Tell us you don't really have a collection of flashlights. Next thing you know you'll be calling your GI Joe dolls 'action figures'.

If you don't want to spend your money on guns, you can get other hobbies or better yet, buy the wife everything she's ever wanted. Don't have a wife? Well, look for one of those "high-maintenance" types. :uhoh: She'll help you spend your money fast. BTW, this past weekend I just dropped almost half a paycheck (net) on model ships. Then again, at the circus change I make, that's not saying much.

Every time you folks start talking about guns I want to buy one. Just wait 'til the first time you go to a THR get together! It's 10 times worse in real life when you get to see all the cool stuff other members have.

121. Resist the temptation to buy a boat.

Guhhh:uhoh:
Tell me about it. I bought a small fishing boat while I was still single, now it sits in my garage taking up space- can't leave it outside, subdivision rules. Needs lots of maintenance every year just to get it running and getting all of the trailer lights to work at one time is a form of voodoo. Haven't registered it this year, ,because I've been too busy with construction projects to go fishing, now that Duck season is almost here, I'm almost tempted to register it, but that would mean a weekend of fixing wiring, refilling the lower unit, trying to get it started etc.:banghead:

Wait till you start reloading.

Doh! I went to a newly opened shooting supply store today and dropped $100 just on brass, powder, and bullets to get me through the next couple of months. But it was all on sale, so using my wife's justification, I actually saved money.:what:

No way, here's a summary of the argument my buddy had with his girlfriend. She asked if you had to choose, would you buy clothes or guns? (You'd know she was of course female, who ran a clothing store) We both immediately said "guns", she said she would buy clothes and asked why we would buy guns. We both said in unison, unrehearsed, "with guns you can get clothes." This may not be relevant, but it amused me.

It is true. If I had invested all the money I spent on guns and ammo, knives, and flashlights, I could buy......well, something pretty darn cool. But it still wouldn't be as cool as all my guns, knives, and flashlights.

If I could have all the firearms I wanted, I would have:

A bolt action rifle (check),
A .30 caliber semi-auto (check times two),
A .223 caliber semi-auto,
A lever action rifle,
A single-shot 12 gauge (check),
A slide-action 12 gauge (check),
A semi-auto 12 gauge,
A high-capacity 9mm pistol (check times two),
A 1911A1,
A "boondocking" revolver,
A .22 caliber semi-auto pistol,
A Glock 35,
A H&K USP .40,
A Glock 30.

So I only have seven out of sixteen so far! :what: :D

If "hobby" can be applied to any intrest,it's gonna get pricey. In any form, from HO trains to race cars=money.
Hell ,we've just bought a motorhome,to"save money"on hunting trips,..yeah right!But i don't mind one bit,i LIKE my toys.....
