Anyone bought a CZ-82 from SOG lately?

A good friend of mine is wanting an 82 and I see that SOG has a good price right now with two mags. Has anyone bought one from them lately, and if so how did it look? He is new to owning pistols and I would hate for him to get a problem one.

Thanks in advance!

John

It's always a crapshoot, and I wouldn't put a lot of stock in the 'handpicked' option.

SOG is as good as any of the surplus traders, IMO, and they get whatever they get just like we do. It seems like the bigger high volume movers have less time to sort through the stuff they get, and that only makes sense, A smaller outfit might actually be able to pick out nicer pieces but because they're smaller they won't get the volume discounts when buying and so will need to charge more for each gun they sell.

I have several. None of them would go on GUN BEAUTIFUL magazine. But I have had no trouble. They shoot well and are accurate. Pretty, No.
A while back there was an example of someone who refinished his. That was a stunning example. However, mine are rough. They shoot wonderfully.

Not lately, but the first CZ82 I got from SOG went back because it was a mess and by mess I mean it looked like it lost a fight with a wood chipper and had missing parts. The replacement pistol was only slighly better. It's a crap shoot. Good luck.

I picked up a CZ-83 in .380. from Cole Distributing for $230 + $30 shipping. It was hand picked 99%. Top notch dealer and fast shipping. I had the gun next day after they had my money order.

I opted for the CZ 83 over the CZ 82 for two reasons:

1. Available types of .380 ammo.
2. The finish is not painted on the CZ 83 - matte bluing.

Midway has new highcap factory mags for the CZ 83 in .380 right now for
$36.39.

The gun shot FMJ and hollow-points flawlessly, awesome. These little guns are everything that owners have posted about them and more. Only down side, I was expecting it to fit my Walther PP holster - trigger guard is too big.

It was hand picked 99%. Cole's has a "hand pick" fee for NIB guns?

Not new - these are police trade-ins. You can see in the picture that mine is the old style round trigger guard. When it arrived, it looked like it had hardly been fired. If it was ever issued, it sat in a locker or a desk (not carried much). No box or other trinkets and only 1 mag. Still a bargain when the new ones are selling for $400 plus. They have varying degrees of use - some of the ones, listed for sale from Cole's have 95%... ratings. I was told on the phone, they would pick me one near new, and that is exactly what I received. They test fired it, and even sent me pics for my approval before I mailed them the money order.

I found that the Bianchi 100 Sz11 Professional clip on IWB works well for the CZ82/83 pistols. http://www.lapolicegear.com/bianchi-100-the-professional-hip-holster.html
